I wonder how many DUers will choose not to use UnRec.

It might seem old-fashioned or "only on principle," sort of like investigating and Impeaching criminal administrations while they are in office; sort of like Rodney King saying "Can't we all just get along;" or remembering "back in the day" when progressive groups worked together and became a Progressive Movement in a Progressive Era.

Not knowing that there was a big issue with what got onto the Greatest Page and being unaware of the now-apparent bitterness about Recommended threads, this change -- and the rock being turned over -- has been a shock.

It's old-fashioned to think of "Recommend" in the traditional way -- as in a gracious recognition of value. Even the word "gracious" is old-fashioned and maybe irrelevant on an Internet discussion board.

It's old-fashioned to view UnRec as being as Orwellian as it is.

Unless you're ahead of your time.

Personally, I don't see the point of a 'greatest' page at all.

DU worked fine before the 'greatest' page was introduced. I have the site bookmarked to open to the main discussion page, so I never even see the 'greatest' list.

use the Recommend feature either. I don't care about the Greatest Threads. I probably won't use either half a dozen times per year.

If I have a comment on a thread, I make it in the thread. For example, this thread is superfluous. It's just another anti-unrec thread, containing no new arguments.

That's my comment. I won't be clicking the Unrecommend option on it. I'll leave that to others.

48. I must confess to having used it a couple of times yesterday but my goal is never to use it again.

I've never put anyone on ignore whether I agree with them or not, I heard someone mention hiding threads the other day, I don't know how to do that and don't want to know.
