Anyone here read Richard Clarke's excellent "Your Government Failed You?"

Great book about the failures, negligence, and arrogance that led to 9/11 and other catastrophes, but what struck me was that our intelligence community has become increasingly dominated by private mercenaries as well.

The intelligence community and the military are now part corporation, part broken bureaucracy. We need a massive overhaul of both.

1. Ultimately, the purpose of privatizing ANYTHING is to destroy democracy
(Almost) everyone agrees that businesses aren't and shouldn't be run as democracies.

SO... hand all the power over to business and the government (of, by, and for the people) becomes irrelevant.

And democracy goes out the window.
