Someone please explain ...

Why does the congress have to buy the support of specific interest groups such as Pharma or AMA when it comes to drafting Health care laws... - How can congress justify provisions that explicitly prohibit collective bargaining or tying payments to providers to their performance ...

It burns me up that congress ( Democrats no less !!! ) can write such shit into bill in exchange for support from interest groups !!!

Nobody asks me shit about what I want in the bill - so why should anyone or any group have more say than others ....

And dont tell me that I have to have a lobbyist ! Why should I have to lobby - when I have a 'Representative' ??? If we all need to hire lobbyist - then why hold elections!!!

I am very very upset!

3. From today's nytimes editorial
...Medicare ought to be empowered, for example, to reduce its payment rates to the highest-cost hospitals and most inefficient doctors. That is probably the best way to get them to stop providing needless tests and treatments that don’t improve the health of the patient.

Medicare should also be allowed to use the results of comparative effectiveness research to set reimbursement policies favoring the best treatments. Unfortunately, as currently written, the House bill calls for that research but prohibits Medicare from using it to set rates...

2. We don't have public financing of elections.
If we did there would be no lobbyists.

6. Correct.
It takes 10s of millions of dollars to win a Senate seat today.

7. there would still be lobbyists, but maybe the money would dry up
or at least become criminal and much harder to get.

Nether Lands

High on this mountain
The clouds down below
I`m feeling so strong and alive
From this rocky perch
I`ll continue to search
For the wind
And the snow
And the sky
I want a lover
I want some friends
And I want to live in the sun
And I want to do all the things that I
never have done.

Sunny bright mornings
And pale moonlit nights
Keep me from feeling alone
Now, I`m learning to fly
And this freedom is like
Nothing that I`ve ever known
I`ve seen the bottom
And I`ve been on top
But mostly I`ve lived in between
And where do you go
When you get to the end of
your dream?

Off in the nether lands
I heard a sound
Like the beating of heavenly wings
And deep in my brain
I can hear a refrain
Of my soul as she rises and sings
Anthems to glory and
Anthems to love and
Hymns filled with early delight
Like the songs that the darkness
Composes to worship the light.

Once in a vision
I came on some woods
And stood at a fork in the road
My choices were clear
Yet I froze with the fear
Of not knowing which way to go
One road was simple
Acceptance of life
The other road offered sweet peace
When I made my decision
My vision became my release.

5. They're not buying the support of the insurance industry or big pharma
they're paying them back for all those campaign "contributions" that were made. Congress has been bought, not the other way around.
