Poll question: If the final Health Care bill is watered down tripe should it be passed?
Should a watered down health care financing bill be passed because its better than nothing or should we urge our Congress persons to vote against it if the final bill is a limp bit of homage to the might of the medical/pharmaceutical/insurance cabal?

1. While I won't be happy if the Finance Committee bill wins, it's still better than what we have.

Let's face it folks - our health care situation is FUBAR. Anything that even improves it a little bit needs to get done because there are far too many people suffering with what we have. If we can impact even a few lives, we've got to do it.

That said, the finance cmte bill is not going to be a significant improvement and we should definitely be pushing for a full public option. At the end of the day, I do think it'll happen, but we've all (Obama, Congressional Dems, NGOs, ourselves) got to do a better job of demonizing the current system and the insurance companies. The polling figures indicate that people that already have insurance don't like the bill and we've got to show people that their current insurance sucks if we want to gain traction. We are not going to win this battle if we don't go negative. Focusing on the positives (our current strategy) is not nearly enough.

2. I'd have to see the final bill, but I believe that a public option is a necessary component.
Without that, I'd be inclined to encourage legislators to reject it.

3. If it's without a public option, it will be a Democratic loss, regardless.
And, the will pay in 2010 and probably 2012.
