Mom Finds Baby for Sale on Craigslist
(Aug. 3) - A Massachusetts mom was shocked when she received an e-mail saying a photo of her son was being used as part of an adoption scam.

Jenni Brennan investigated the claim and found a July 19 ad on Craigslist for a "cute" and "very healthy" baby boy. Although there was no picture on the ad page, when Brennan e-mailed the listed Yahoo address, the poster responded with a photo of her 7-month-old son, Jake.

"It was horrifying," Brennan said of seeing the picture, which she discovered had been pulled from her family's public blog.
The e-mail claimed Jake was a Canadian-born child living in an orphanage in Cameroon. After further correspondence, Brennan alerted authorities to the scam when she was asked for $300 to start the adoption process.

According to NECN, the London-based ad is still active on Craigslist, but Yahoo has shut down the e-mail link. The Brennan family has also made their blog private and they advised others to do the same.

Be careful when posting you or your family's photos online. Google etc. makes it so easy to find out exactly where you live!

1. An adoption scam? There is nothing more vile.
And yes, I realize they probably happen more often than is known, but damn. Here's hoping somebody goes to jail for this one.

2. I once responded via email to a complete stranger

I googled "tutu", and up came pictures of two darling little girls..when I clicked to make the pics bigger, there was an INVITATION with a MAP..inviting the family & friends to their family picnic.. phone number too..

I told the mom that I was a Mom too, and had no designs on her little girls, but she should remove that stuff.. she never wrote me back, but the site was gone the next day..

3. I will not post pictures of my child on the internet
for this and a lot of other reasons. Too many sick, twisted people out there.
