People really do get it.
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 01:05 AM by lovepg
This time it is actually plain and clear to many more people what the game is.
The corporate interests do not really care how many of us want a single payer plan or a public option.
They will make it LOOK as though we don't. The media whoreds will write the editorials ,slant the coverage, ignore the facts and tell us what we REALLY want.
Mobs will be hired and the media coverage will play it up just as they play down and ignore protests from progressives. Polls will be shown to say something they do not really say. The paid off politicians will explain why the very thing we elected them to do is completely impractical. We will end up being made by law to buy health insurance from the very people who would have you and your loved ones dead in the name of more profits for themselves.
And it will be declared a great victory.
But we will know better just as those who had to deal with medicare plan D know better. Just as those who deal with the insurance death profits telling us we cannot have government screwing up their health care, know what elegant piles of drivel they spew. Just as we know the piles of paper nightmares we are all filling out whenever we are sick could not be worse under a single payer plan then they are now. In this world where those who write the laws are allowed to have the same coverage they deem too expensive for us.
We will know and they will know we know.
That is a very dangerous set of circumstances.
We will see clearly it does not matter if their products contain poisons or are completely untested of if we could get them cheaper in another country or if we are dying..
As long as they get our money. When countries set to plunder and kill people in the name of profit its called war.
In this country when corporations do it its called free market capitalism.
I call it war.
War apon the people.

2. Well said, and I hope you're right.
Fear-mongering is one of the oldest tricks in the book precisely because it is so effective. But maybe, this time around, access to the Internet (Thank you, Al Gore!) will result in a properly informed, and righteously angry, public.

4. I think that we have passed the tipping point
where the majority of Americans is awakening to the awful truth and opening its eyes a little bit wider every day.

Startling shit will come to light in the next few years thanks to the internet. We haven't seen much more than the tip of the iceberg yet. But the veils are dropping rapidly, that's for sure.

5. My self personally
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 02:00 AM by Eric68601
I'm just keeping up of ONSLAUGHT of propaganda myth busting on my local message board which is about 30+ Republicans .vs 3 Democrats, 2 of which, are not as active on the board as I am.

Personally, I don't wait for a response, I don't egg on a response, I just give the information. The first major key in it was posting a copy of that E-mail link that's been going around, followed with a link to HR 3200, add in a few copy and pastes from the bill to start debunking a couple of the myths for people, challenge them on OTHER rumors like the euthanasia, abortion, etc.. using the best defense you have.. A copy of the bill. Use the same message they have been screaming at town halls. READ THE BILL !! They wanna complain about this senator or that one not having time.. from the time it was introduced rumors were tossed out and e-mailed around. If people have time to find all these flaws in the proposal in less then 24 hours, then SURELY others have 5 minutes to spare to take a look at the wording themselves.

Maybe the freepers are having a problem with it because the words are too big for them to fathom. Perhaps the BEST step to health care reform is, IN FACT, working on our education system first. :eyes:

6. P.S.
If you DO happen to get that propaganda from people, reply to sender:

READ THE BILL, THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN DEBUNKED, IT DOESN'T SAY THAT, and send them a link to HR3200 somewhere online (preferably a .gov link).

Make it quick, simple, and to the point.

7. If educating others is your specialty, then that's your contribution to the awakening
and you're part of a massive effort of raising the consciousness of the nation, notch by notch.

My specialty is giving encouragement in words and actions. That comes naturally.

Oh, and welcome to DU, Eric!

8. OBAMA HAS BROKEN TO MANY PROMISES
AS posted on my local message board.

"Yes, Obama has broken way too many promises. Lets examine which ones those are

http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/rulings/promise-broken/

No. 24: End income tax for seniors making less than $50,000
No. 234: Allow five days of public comment before signing bills
No. 240: Tougher rules against revolving door for lobbyists and former officials
No. 505: Create a $3,000 tax credit for companies that add jobs
No. 508: Allow penalty-free hardship withdrawals from retirement accounts in 2008 and 2009
No. 511: Recognize the Armenian genocide
No. 517: Negotiate health care reform in public sessions televised on C-SPAN

I agree about that Vietnam hostility, I just about blew a gasket myself when I found out he broke his promise to Recognize the Armenian genocide

So anyways, here's a list of ALL his promises, http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/

Care to point out the ones I missed? ":eyes:
