"Socialized medicine is Communistic!" "SO is your Social Security and Medicare, gramps".
Anyone else notice the actual age of the anti-health care movement?

I'm guessing it's at least 50.

Meaning, that most of these folks are likely using Social Security and Medicare. SS/MC are 2 shining examples of how well socialism DOES work in 'Murikkka.

Social Security became law in the 1930's and has a projected solvency through 2040.

100+ years of success and the socialist lifeblood of our seniors.

Medicare became law in 1965 and has remained solvent despite explosive cost growth under our current for-profit health care system.

44 years of success as the socialized health care payer for our seniors.

If you attend these townhalls or counter protest a teabag event and Grampa-Anti gets in your face calling Obama's HC reform plan "socialized medicine", yell back "SO is your Social Security and Medicare. Give back your Social Security."

Also, remind every one of them to STAY THE FUCK OFF OUR SOCIALIST HIGHWAYS, STREETS, AND ROADS.
............................................................................................

Socialism can save America from its own greedy self.

Single Payer works for every other industrialized nation, cept America. What does that say about us? That we lack the ingenuity to make SPUHC work? Not really. To me it says that we lack the desire to take care of our sick, poor, and needy. America has willfully denied health care for all and that is much worse than lacking ingenuity.

America chose to turn its back on the sick. Again, what does that say about America? I'm a staunch Atheist but even I know this defies the Bible of a so-called Christian nation.

Not all hope is lost though. America has its progressives, liberals, unions, Socialists, and those who were born with the empathy part of the brain. We are fighting an uphill battle to do the right thing. We are fighting the good fight.

I believe we will win that fight one day. We'll win the fight to do the right thing and provide access to affordable health care for all.

3. I have been surprised by the actual youth of this "movement"
My experience is anecdotal (as is yours) and I certainly agree that the spokespeople are in the 40-60 year old age range (as they are for most things) .... but, I have been shocked at the twenty somethings and people in their early thirties that are vehemently opposed to any kind of real reform in health care.

I have assumed that by virtue of their youth and experience they lacked understanding .... plus I coupled it with fear associated with lack of opportunity and greed.
