Positive economic news means Trotskyites will never enjoy being guards in re-education camps
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 05:47 PM by HamdenRice

You may recall that back during the financial meltdown, there were many who were posting emphatically, "LET IT FAIL!!1!!@"

Some of us surmised that these posters hoped for a complete economic collapse. An economic collapse might lead to world Trotskite revolution -- although it might also lead to fascism, a risk our courageous Trotskyites were willing to accept.

Well, things continue to be economically dire, but it looks like we've avoided Great Depression II. This means no world wide collapse and no Trotskyite global revolution.

Poor things. Now the possibility of being prison guards in re-education centers is slipping away!

If you are one of those Trotskyites who will miss the opportunity to be a prison guard in a re-education prison, then please unrec this post. This way we can draw all the puss of negative energy to this thread, and perhaps allow the other economic threads to survive without your negative energy!

1. So I guess it'll be when climate change hits instead, that we get the profound systemic changes

--and I can think of lots of options other than "Trotskyite" or "Fascist" - that we still desperately need?

2. It's easier to make "profound systemic changes" from a functioning society than from chaos
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 05:52 PM by HamdenRice
The American revolution was more successful than the French Revolution. The South African transition to majority rule was more successful than the Zimbabwean transition. Ghandi and Nehru were more successful than Mao.

5. The Khmer Rouge have as much to do with Trotsky as Hamden Rice does with economic history.
And I'm not even a Trotskyite.

10. I find it prudent to avoid a person who refers to himself in the plural.
He's either a lunatic, a narcissist or, as in your case, both.

4. I want a stable economic recovery
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 06:14 PM by AllentownJake
However I don't see it happening in a country that doesn't make anything.

Reverse the trade deficit and we can start talking economic recovery. Anything else is just kicking debt or inflation to the future for a later generation.
