Either congressional democrats are literally the stupidest fuckers on the face of the planet, OR
Democrats keep doing the same thing over and over and then act shocked when they don't get difference results. They gave away concession after concession to Republicans on the stimulus bill and then were shocked when zero republicans voted for the bill. Then they turn around and do the exact same thing on health care. Making concession after concession - and I'm not just talking about things like a public option, I'm also talking about the hundreds of republican revisions that have been accepted in to draft legislation in committees - and now finally, after conceding almost everything, act surprised that no Republicans are supporting it....

At this point there are only two options that I can see. And honestly, if someone else sees additional options, feel free to bring them up. But as far as I can tell, either congressional democrats are quite literally the absolute stupidiest motherfucking morons on the face of the earth,

OR

...they really aren't for what they want democratic supporters to think they are for, and fighting with Republicans is just political cover to soften the scorn when they finally pass a bullshit watered down corporate approved piece of shit that they always intended on passing from day one

Pick one.

1. It's beyond frustrating, isn't it?
The only explanation is that there's already been a deal worked out LONG AGO.

The rest has been Kabuki theatre.

and only when I feel nice about it.

I have option three...

They really don't want change and want to keep this issue alive for the next election.

7. #2. I think health care "reform" confirmed that. I think the Republicans are the same way.
Both serve corporate special interests. They just doing it in different ways and use a bunch of wedge issues, and small rewards to show the faithful on both sides they are "fighting the good fight".

I don't think it has always been this way but it is certainly like this now.

10. They are scared to outright own any plan
I have worked for the federal government for 10 years, wasteful spending, incompetent employees, and hoops/red tape are the norm. The Democrats are scared shitless to have ownership of a plan run by federal government employees because it will fail and come back on them.

14. Medicare is losing money like crazy
We will all be lucky if it doesn't fold in the next ten years with the baby boomers. I'm a Democrat but I understand the federal and many state governments are very inefficient at running things. I cringe at the thought of the government having to process millions of health care claims on a weekly basis, it will collapse without a huge agency to run it in a substandard fashion.

18. I guess the truth hurts
Government employees are some of the laziest I have ever encountered. I'm not perfect, I have played poker, slept, watched movies, played video games, surfed the internet, text messaged, talked on the phone, taken boondoggle trips, etc all on the government dime. It's hard not to get caught up in it, in the private sector I have worked more in a week than I ever did in a month with the government. That's the facts, it's in the culture.

23. Hmmm my husband's experience in the USN does not match yours
nor does it match yours in the USPS.

Or for that matter the experience of family members who were cops and retired from police departments.

Go tell them lies to those who will appreciate them.

By the by, the overhead for medicare is far lower than any private plan, and I guess you are still a Federal Employee since you are lazy.

Damn where is my secret guv'ment job. I want to work like you do... not like those I KNOW who have worked for both Federal Government, quasi Federal Government and STATE government worked for REAL.

So what department of the Federal Government is this lazy? Inquiring minds want to know.

34. I work for the government -
And that's not my work life at all. We get 6000 kids to and from school, feed 2/3 of them every day - breakfast and lunch, clean up after tehm when they leave and fix everything in 11 buildings with bear skin and stone knives.

If you're a lazy asshole, just look in the mirror for the problem. It really just takes a little personal ethics.

21. B. Congresspersons, on the whole, are smart, successful, ambitious, arrogant,
connected, well-informed, powerful people and dems behave the way they have for 8 years because it's a big Hannity and Colmes show out there and enough of them are happy with concentration of power and wealth into the hands of fewer and fewer people.

Congresspersons are not weak, spineless, stupid, naive, or ignorant. They have survived: courting the party powerful, kissing babies, debating primary and main election candidates, generating votes, fundraising, kissing up, backroom discussions, organizing offices, running campaigns, hiring staff...to get where they are. No mean feat, in one sense anyway. If they don't have the entire package at least they know it and hire people who do.

Votes and public statements and bills and hearings are choreographed. They know exactly what they are doing.

28. No excuses for the Dems anymore.
We have a majority in the House. We have a majority in the Senate. We have control of the White House.

There are no more excuses. The facts speak for themselves.

The Dems can cloud the issue all we want and try to convince us that they're spineless weenies who get
run over by the big, evil Republicans at every turn.

That argument doesn't frickin fly when you have majorities in both houses and the White House, for Pete's sake!!!

The Dems are in bed with the same corporations that the Republicans are.

Isn't it obvious by now??????

Yeah, reality bites, but let's stop inventing excuses for these sell outs!

The problem is not that they are stupid during sex, and I doubt they literally have sex with their mothers. I know it's nitpicky, but it's a semantic pet peeve.
