More "grass roots" protests, this time brought to you by Big Oil:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/19/business/energy-environment/19climate.html

" The event on Tuesday was organized by a group called Energy Citizens, which is backed by the American Petroleum Institute, the oil industry’s main trade group. Many of the people attending the demonstration were employees of oil companies who work in Houston and were bused from their workplaces.

This was the first of a series of about 20 rallies planned for Southern and oil-producing states to organize resistance to proposed legislation that would set a limit on emissions of heat-trapping gases, requiring many companies to buy emission permits."

I especially loved this quote: “Something we hold dear is in danger, and that’s our future,” said Bill Bailey, a rodeo announcer and local celebrity, who was the master of ceremonies at the hourlong rally.

Yes, it's your effing future Bill, it's the future of the planet, like whether Middle America will become an agricultural dust bowl and the coasts will be under water, not whether you have to pony up an extra dollar at the gas pump. And lets talk about the new jobs the green energy industry will create, shall we?

1. Here come the next phony "protestors"
Bused in by Big Oil.
Paid by Big Oil.

We can be sure that Fox/CNN/MSNBC/ABC/NBC/CBS will give them 24/7 coverage.
"Citizens" are "outraged"!

Since 1980, the power in this country has shifted from Washington to Wall Street.
The US is now governed from Lower Manhattan with a rubber stamp in DC.

Only once in the past 29 years has there been even a remote threat to corporate control of this country (1993,1994).
Harry and Louise put on their jackboots and reminded us who runs this place.

This important!
We know they're going to pull the same charade as is now happening with insurance reform.

Forerwarned is forearmed.

3. Won't matter.. Media eats this stuff up..
They'll be spinning it like crazy.. Big Oil buys lots of airtime, and are probably intertwined financially with their corporate bosses at the upper levels too:(
