KEARNEY - As a few people stood outside with signs that read "Health Insurance Reform 09: We can't wait" nearly 700 people filed into the Merryman Performing Arts Center to hear Sen. Ben Nelson talk about health care reform.

Nelson is on a statewide tour and stopped in North Platte and Kearney Monday to speak at town hall meetings.

"It appeared for some period of time, and it still does to others, that we're moving too quickly, and I think we were," Nelson said.

"We gave every indication on why we ought to slow down the process. Some would like to kill it, but the rest of us are really interested in trying to find a solution," Nelson said.
