About those emails Karl deleted?
Don't all the recipients still have them. I mean, I can only delete the emails on my computer, not the on the people's I send them to.
If he's being honest (yeah, right. And monkeys will fly out of my butt.) He should give the Congress a list of the people he sent to emails to.

2. From all I've heard, the problem is if the originals were deleted,
there's no way to know WHO all the recipiants were.

I still think they weill be found...somewhere. See, I believe in patterned actions. So far, in 6+ years, this admin. has only hired "friends & political contributors" to every open position, and all of them have turned out to be incompetent. There's no reason for me to believe they did any differently when hiring people to work in their IT Dept. or the RNc for that matter. I'm told that very careful, thorough, and experienced people COULD have erased all historical records of the emails in question, BUT i have no reason to believe this would be the FIRST and ONLY group in this admin. who are actually competant.

They'll show up, I'm sure of it, especially since Conyers& Leahy are supposed to hire some forensic expertsto find them! When they are found, it will be additional proof of malicious INTENT!

3. Actually its fairly easy to insure non-recovery
It has to be part of the basic system design, but its really not hard at all. Those who claim otherwise are speaking from ignorance.

What we don't know is the configuration of the workstations and servers. My daugher's laptops do not contain recoverable files or any passwords. They take no active part in those processes. It just works for them. Its even easier to do that on a server.

There is no requirement on the server operators to archive, keep logs or archive mail, it was up to the individuals to retain offical material by insure it was done or transferred to the archiving system.

4. I have a question for you Solo. You seem to know a lot about
IT. As I understand it, emails can go through multiple servers as they are sent from the sender and recieved by the end receiver. I understand a PC can be wiped clean, as well as a server (as in the RNC server), but what about the information that would, or could still reside on the interim servers? Also, if both the sender and the receiver use the same mail server, do THEIR communications ever go outside of that small network?

5. The answer(s) are no.
Emails do not go through as intact recognziable documents. They route through as data packets being sent to a particular IP address and port. They may not all take the same route.

If everything is "in house" as in behind the same firewall/router, no.

6. "If he's being honest." You kill me, Ed
By the way, there shouldn't be a question mark in your subject line.
