A Email from a Brother VFA member about Bush's Prayer Breakfast
Edited on Sat Apr-14-07 12:42 PM by Monkeyman
Another astoundingly stupid utterance from our Commander- in- Chief , at a prayer breakfast:

Yesterday I was home sick with the flu listening to CNN. The President was quoted, at a "Prayer Breakfast" supporting his position on stem cell research. Not an exact quote, but something like, "Some of us in this Country consider life to be something to be merely unitized, forgetting the intrinsic value each life has." Pro-Life indeed.

Apparently, stem cell clusters that were going to be flushed , anyway, are worth more than soldiers and Marines with PTSD , military people sent back to this mess repeatedly, families' lives ruined, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans killed, people with Arabic names abducted from streets and tortured.

Who would attend a Prayer Breakfast and not see the irony in this? Since when is a gathering of Christens believers a forum for this party's fascist agenda? There's no compassion for the sick in need od Stem Cell research, none for soldiers and their families, just as there was none for those on the rooftops of New Orleans.

Monkeyman How's that for "bearing our brothers' burden "?

2. The bastards would put a stem cell on life support
while "supporting" our troops by ensuring they stay in harm's way forever because they are too fucking proud to admit their conservative values suck and are deadly.

Christians love you before you are born and if you can be used for political gain, otherwise go fuck yourselves.

But I bet there is one thing conservatives won't do - sign a vow never to use any of the medical advancements which will come from stem cell research conducted by intellectually curious liberal scientists.

3. I love that idea.
Make these booger eating morons sign something that will forever keep them from receiving medical treatment that came from stem cell research. A lifetime ban.

5. Not just stem cell research
but any medical treatment derived from REAL science like new antibiotics for the evolved antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

13. Oh, those ones.
I was thinking along the lines of those opposing anyone using stem cells, but you're right there are people who harm their families and themselves with things like that.

9. Those are not conservative values. They are radical extremist fascism.
Nothing is conserved in BushCo. Everything is wasted. Everything is harmed. Even the ultra-rich who think they are doing so well...have no idea how much poison they have taken in, breathing, thinking, eating........

Everytime I see those artificial islands of uber-wealthy homes in that ridiculous oil emirate, I have to laugh. The poles are melting, and they are building at the water's edge.

11. "Babies" will never be delivered from a FREEZER
What do these people not understand about this? These couples, who are donating their unwanted, frozen embryos to stem cell research, are NOT going to implant them, either in themselves or "others", no matter how much George Bush or any other religious nut case screams "Culture of Life". They will either stay in those freezer indefinitely until they are no longer viable, or be washed down the sinks.

14. Because most of these people who support Bush on this issue
are, to be rather impolite about it, knuckle-dragging morons. :eyes: They don't CARE about the facts - all they are concerned with is the notion that every single embryo ever IS a baby, and that "babies" shouldn't be killed. I don't think babies should be killed, either, but these aren't babies, and they are not going to become babies, either (as you said).

The thing that scares me about all this is the brainwashing power in Bush's whole "culture of life" BS. When Bush vetoed federal funding for stem cell research last summer, my little brother, a normally pretty bright 15-year-old, started raising hell about it...until I asked him if he even knew what stem cell research WAS, and it became clear that he had no idea. All he knew was what his conservative boss (a good guy from our church, but, well, very conservative) had apparently been telling him, or what he'd heard from Rush Limbaugh on the radio at work. :scared: Like I said, my brother is a smart kid, and it worries me that somebody as intelligent as him would just blindly buy into Bush's ideas without even knowing what the facts were.

15. Encourage him to think for HIMSELF
I did it myself as a 16 year old Catholic school girl. It can be done.
