Good on Jimmy Carter
I am glad that someone who actually experienced the racism of the past in the south, came out and said what we've been thinking. Why is it that when Dems leave office they do good things for humanity. Then you have the, well the Bushes. Enough said. Positive vibes for President Carter.

Peace,
Max

much racism still exists here. That was in 1987 and I don't think things have gotten any better since.

7. There's plenty of racism in other regions as well...
...The difference, in my experience, has been in the expression of it and how much more open it seems to be in the South.

8. From what I hear from my racist relatives
It is still alive and kicking.

Peace,

2. I saw that and I'm glad that he said what needed to be said.
I love Jimmy, and many Dems in the south (not just those who've left office) try to do things for humanity to make up for the mean as a striped snake repugs here, who don't seem to care much about humanity.

3. I saw Jimmy Carter on tonight's NBC News.

And it struck me as he was talking that he is somewhere around 85 years young and how alert and sharp as a tack he is. And then it occurred to me what a dunce our last President is. And I drew the conclusion that on Bush's best day he couldn't even approach Carter's worst day in terms of mental acuity.

I sincerely hope we have learned something from the past eight years or else we endured all that misery for nothing.

4. Jimmy's 85th birthday is 10/1 & you can send your best wishes
to him via the Carter Center here:

http://donate.cartercenter.org/site/PageNavigator/birthday_card

While the URL has "donate", it's not mandatory...I signed the card from Rosalynn's recent letter (and donated)...but it's a nice gesture if you can spare anything. The Carter Center has done a lot of good, particularly in fighting disease. They've almost eliminated Guineau worm.

I truly appreciate President Carter speaking up on racism and hope that others do the same. We've got a big problem in this country, and it needs to be addressed.

I too send positive vibes President Carter's way. He's done great things since leaving the Presidency. I think his Presidential Library is the only one that will exhibit post-Presidency works.

5. I am only 40 years old
And when he was President I lived in Florida. Needless to say, I heard nothing but negative things about him. He inherited a Republican mess, and didn't mince his words, and for that they still vilify him. I admire him so much more for his staying above the fray. There is a great documentary about him on the TV machine. Try and watch it if you get a chance. It gave me a new found respect for him. He is truly a humanitarian in every sense of the word. Much love for Both President and Mrs. Carter.

Peace,
Max

6. Will do
And I will be happy to donate. Even though I am an unemployed teacher with graduate school to pay for. Not looking for pity, just a job.

Peace,
Max
