Setting the Record Straight. Today's Vote To Rebuke Wilson Was Not A Waste Of Time
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 09:40 PM by berni_mccoy
Why? Because a Health Care Bill isn't going to suddenly appear out of the Senate in one magical day.

Baucus's bill out of the Finance Committee is a disgrace and it won't make it out of committee as is. The reality is HR 3200 is going to be the closest thing to a Health Care Reform Bill that is currently under consideration. The Senate has a lot of work to do and they are going to have to produce something much closer to HR 3200 than even the SHELP Committee bill resembles.

Meanwhile, the House DID work on other issues, including the Introduction of a bill that will repeal DOMA.

Finally, if it was such a waste of time, why were the Republicans protesting with all their wailing and gnashing of teeth on the House Floor? Boehner sounded absolutely shaken. It's about time Dems stood up and said, in unison, "We're Not Going To Take Your Filthy Lies and Disrespect Anymore." And Wilson, defiant to the end, continued to argue he was right. Well, he's now officially wrong! And what's worse for him, he's been called out as a total fraud as he voted for Health Care for Illegal Immigrants during the Bush Administration. It's been made painfully clear his outburst had nothing to do with the truth and everything to do with hatred and disrespect for the President.

It's about damn time the Democrats got organized and unified and took a stand against the party of lies and corruption. How many times did the Republicans violate House rules while they were in control of Congress and if a Democrat barely touched the line, they punished them. Remember when the Republicans shut down discussion with the threat of the Nuke option? Remember when Republicans single-handedly went about redistricting the map in their favor? Remember when they wouldn't even give Conyers a committee room to hold hearings? Maybe now, we won't get pushed around. At least 7 Republicans who voted for the resolution think so. If the Democrats continue to hold the Republicans to the rules, more will start to think so as well.

2. We should have another resolution of disapproval next week
and every week, until he apologizes.

And also a resolution of disapproval of the Republican Party for defending Wilson's jackass behavior.

5. was he called out for his immigrant health care vote on the floor, or was
it just on TV by Sanchez, etal?

that would have been a good thing for some well informed dem to have done

didn't somebody call a pug a liar during the session?

more of the same is needed WHENEVER they lie, which would take lots of time, wouldn't it?

6. I'll be the contrarian
Obama addresses the Congress - tells it like it is. What is all the rage - Joe Wilson. Today Obama rocked the house in PS with another HCR speech - what gets reported Joe Wilson. Joe Wilson wasn't worth a minute of the nations time. What Obama had to say about HCR was. If you want to call that some sort of victory - then I must honorably disagree...

9. His 15 minutes
took a week and half when folks might otherwise have been focused on the President's truth telling.

8. What needed to be done is done and now we can start focusing on health care
Wilson caused a distraction and it needed to be addressed. But we did that and now it's done.

10. What if he'd flipped the President off - or said fuck you Obama
Because that's the equivalent of what he did, that's just how wrong yelling at the President in that setting is.

11. Fuck republicans!! Like there was no more important business going on than their...
driving the econ off the cliff while slaughtering innocent Iraqi's in the 100's of thousands and passing the bill to *anyone* but than the eternal chickenhawk Grover Norquist and direct depositing war profits to Lizzy Cheney they couldn't censure MoveOn.org...oh wait they did do that, well - they have *still* squandered far more time, far more money, shed far more innocent blood, and hard earned treasure than that fuck them!! A more disruptive pack of bigoted sycophantic hypocrites history has yet to record since the nationalistic corporatism that befell Germany it's time to start pushing the GOP along with their goose-stepping puppets and lap dogs into mud puddles
