Former soldier accused in Iraq rape, murders

CIVILIAN DEATHS: A US judge ordered an ex-soldier alleged to have raped and killed an Iraqi girl before slaughtering her family be detained

AP, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA
Wednesday, Jul 05, 2006, Page 7

A former soldier discharged because of a "personality disorder" was accused in federal court of executing an Iraqi family so he and other troops could rape and murder a young woman they had been eyeing at a traffic checkpoint.

Steven Green, a skinny, 21-year-old former private, was led into court on Monday wearing baggy shorts, flip-flops and a T-shirt. He spoke only to confirm his identity and stared as a federal magistrate ordered him held without bond on murder and rape charges that carry a possible death penalty.

Green became the first person identified in the latest case of alleged killings of Iraqi civilians by US troops, horrific deaths discovered in a burned house near Mahmoudiya in March that military officials initially blamed on insurgents.

Soldier's trial delayed, scheduled for July

by The Associated Press

NASHVILLE, TENN. - The trial for Pfc. Jesse V. Spielman, a 2002 Chambersburg Area Senior High School graduate accused in the rape and murder of an Iraqi teenager and the slaying of her family, has been delayed.

The trial was scheduled to start today at Fort Campbell, Ky., but was pushed back after Spielman's defense attorney received new information regarding witnesses, attorney Dan Christensen said.

A public affairs officer at Fort Campbell, Master Sgt. Terry Webster, said the trial has been rescheduled for July 23. As a matter of protocol, military prosecutors won't discuss the case.

Spielman is the last of four 101st Airborne soldiers from Fort Campbell, on the Kentucky-Tennessee line, to face trial in the March 2006 attack on the family in their home near a military checkpoint in Mahmoudiya....(more@link)

6. Are you kicking posts, or just posting your own thing repetitively?
what you post doesn't directly deal with much you have responded to, except for the fact they all are posts about Iraq occupation.

Here is from the DU rule book:

Duplicate Topics and Spamming

Do not post duplicate topics that have already been posted. There are different levels of enforcement in different forums. For example, the Latest Breaking News forum has extremely strict rules against duplicate topics, but the General Discussion forum is much more lenient. Cross posting of duplicates in the two General Discussion forums is not permitted. Cross-posting of duplicates in other forums is occasionally permitted if there is a clear reason for doing so.

Do not spam the message board by posting the same message repeatedly, or by posting a flood of different messages. We have an automatic spam filter which blocks out members who post numerous messages in a short period of time.
