More Pet Food & Treats Recalled (4/15/07)
From Itchmo:

Itchmo has confirmed an email from Natural Balance that they are removing two products from sale:

* Venison and Brown Rice Dry Dog Formula
* Venison and Green Pea Dry Dog Formula

This product does not contain wheat gluten. No deaths or serious illnesses have been reported and no recall warning has been issued. The warning applies only to products sold in the last week according to Natural Balance.

Seems to be due to reports of "gastric upset."

And from the FDA:

As a precautionary measure, Del Monte Pet Products is voluntarily recalling select product codes of its pet treat products sold under the Jerky Treats®, Gravy Train® Beef Sticks and Pounce Meaty Morsels® brands as well as select dog snack and wet dog food products sold under private label brands. A complete list of affected brands and products is below.

The Company took this voluntary recall action immediately after learning this morning from the FDA that wheat gluten supplied to Del Monte Pet Products from a specific manufacturing facility in China contained melamine. Melamine is a substance not approved for use in food. The FDA made this finding as part of its ongoing investigation into the recent pet food recall.

(The Del Monte info may be a little old, it's hard to tell - the FDA just released this today, but the news release from Del Monte is dated 3/31. I included it just in case).

1. Thanks! I keep checking to be sure our little Pitter-pat is safe. So far, he is fine.
Wouldn't want to lose our little buddy prematurely!

2. Is There No End To This?
Why hasn't all the food been tested yet?
