Capitialism: Still crying
I waited weeks for it to open. I was hoping it would make me enraged enough to do something. I am enraged. I drove around for a half hour trying to think of action I could take. I don't know.
I want to scream from the rooftops, I want to start ramming my car into every fucking Citi Bank, Walmart I see. I want to torch every P&G product in the store. I am ready, more ready than I was when I put signs on my lawn decrying the thousands of soldiers dead, the bailouts. I am not fearful
of my neighbors thoughts. I do not care anymore, because I know sooner or later it will happen to them also, and they will understand.
I have spent 19 yrs watching my unionized trade adopt the corporate way of thinking, speaking up
to shine a light, only to have eyes rolled at me and be mocked behind my back. You see we are prisoners of each other. We all keep each other in line. From the security guards protecting the real criminals, to the working class sheriff evicting homeowners, to the carpenter boarding up the home. To the factory foreman who lays off people who question the company way. This film opened my
eyes to the fact that the things I have believed in, argued about, since I was in 7th grade is the truth.
Every time my Union brothers bitch about illegals, affirmative action, etc.. they are really just
wasting time with a devil that doesn't exist. You cannot keep fighting amongst yourselves and expect to win. We are not the problem. The sooner we realize this the better off we will be.
We truly need to band together with our so called enemies, hard as it may be, because the other side is in the same boat. How to do this I do not know. I just know it has to be done.

1. Everyone clapped at the end where I saw it. You're right, we're all in this together...
...from teabaggers protesting a corrupt gov't to lefties like me.

The peasants did rise up in 2006 and 2008 ~ and may have to rise up again in loud clear terms.

3. "How to do this I do not know. I just know it has to be done"
There are a lot of us in that same boat.

Everything just seems so inadequate. Like a tug boat going against an oceanliner.

5. My options I came up with
Would just get me arrested, with a small blurb in the paper. It needs to be organized. Teabagger style but with the teabaggers realizing we're on the same side now. I know heaven forbid, but it's true. Need to add every sign needs to be spelled properly.

7. This has been suggested by others. I think it is a good idea.
We just need to get them past their hatred of us and educate them that we are indeed all in this together. Squabbling about the little inconsequential crap while the people who own this country rob us all blind and send our jobs to Mexico.

6. Say anything bad about the Fed on DU and there are plenty who will attack you..
Can't even get all Democrats or "liberals" or "progressives" on the same page here on DU.

Most people don't even know enough to understand what the hell you're talking about, I know my family doesn't.

8. Sadly you are right.
I kind of stopped talking about anything important at family functions. I wasn't quite sure if they think I am crazy, or it is out of the realm of their thought process.

10. c) Both a) and b)..
They think you are whacked *and* it's out of the realm of their thought processes.

If it's not on Facebook, Dancing With the Stars or American Idol they either don't understand it or think it's both stupid and whacked.

I went beyond rage back to visceral disgust several years ago.

9. Thanks, we're going to see it on Tuesday
hopefully with at least five people.

One thing we had in common with Republicans was the bail-out of Wall St. And the people nearly won. Democrats and Repubs who were flooded with calls from their constituents did vote against it and I remember feeling really good as such a huge majority of the people finally agreed on something and got results.

But, that didn't last. They voted again, and this time the people lost. I couldn't believe it. What made them change their minds? Rep. Wilson from CA told us that Congress was threatened. When asked by whom, he said Paulson. They were threatened with martial law he said. Things were way worse than we knew and Congress was manipulated into giving hundreds of billions of dollars to the same people who caused the problem.

I think we could start there to find some common ground with reasonable Republicans. But you're right, they keep the people divided, fighting over trivial things like what Glenn Beck said today, or Limbaugh, or that Rep. Grayson used a word that offended someone.

To win, people have to stay focused and not be distracted. I don't see that happening yet, but it could if people get mad enough about the big issues and ignore the trivia.

19. Lol, okay. I'm not surprised though, as Michael Moore
was very involved during that period of time. He wrote a great column encouraging the Dems for standing up against the bail-out before they voted for it.

11. The problem with most people in this country is that they think they are going to be rich some day.
Michael Moore pointed this out in one of his books and it's true.

Teabaggers/freepers can't see the forest for the trees because they think they are the "chosen ones" and all they have to do is follow the "prosperity gospel" or "the secret" to get what they want in life.

That's why they give the god damn corporatist bastards a free pass and are wrong about everything from raising taxes on the rich to universal health care.

Millions of people have been deliberately and diabolically brainwashed by cable news which feeds everyone compete bullshit and lies about the economy, jobs and finance.

Those bastards on those cable channels push the stock market like it is mecca and the answer to everyone's prayers which is total bullshit and lies!!!

Until people realize that they are being brainwashed and that we all are actually in the same boat and are all WORKING CLASS, we are looking at uphill battle.

It's a battle that we on the left will be fighting, not the right.

20. Oh yes.
Yeah it's YOUR fault. That you lost your house because your good paying factory job went away, because you were in a Union and asked for too much, and you expected a pension and healthcare and food on the table with a High School education. Yeah, you just didn't do enough bootstrappin.
These evil fucking pigs. Watching the video of Glen Beck with the vicks under his eyes and just seeing him writhe his face and think it was fucking funny, made me sick. This fucking bastard telling everyone of his followers this bullshit and not giving a goddamn about them really.
God it was like watching a modern day Ebenezer.

14. It's SOP for those that crave power
In Ireland during the English occupation the English encouraged faction fights between the various clans to prevent them from realizing who the real enemy was. Yes they all hated the English but would take their money and beat the crap out of their fellow Irish.

What finally changed was the heavy handed execution of the Easter Rising leaders galvanized the people against their overlords.

United we stand- divided we fall. E Pluribus Unum

bit with the 1930s strike and FDR's second Bill of Rights and how he tied it all into everything else in the movie really got my water works flowing.

24. I cried through the whole thing
I am not poor or destitute, yet. But born in 1966 I have watched everything unravel. I have seen what the constant beating of the drum against the middle class has done. We have turned on each other. The movie is showing a much greater message than he would have you believe. The deck is stacked and tilts more every day
