Health Care Reform is going to pass... and now everyone is climbing on board.
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 09:40 AM by Peacetrain
This morning Bobby Jindahl was talking health care reform and what the right side wants in the bill yadda yadda yadda.. when the anchor person gently reminded him, that it was already in the bill.. and how could republicans try and now take credit for something passed by the other side.

I got a phone call, and did not get to see his response.

Fox news commentators are calling for HCR.. the money channel is tsk tsking this morning on the need to reign in the insurance companies.

So here is my prediction.

We have been pushing this forward.. nose to the grindstone.. and there are those on the other side who have predicted its failure and fought against us since day one.

Now they will come out, embrace it, and here is what is going to get stuck in the craw of the democrats..

They will "try" to take credit for it, by saying it was their opposition that pushed the President to get it through.

Because HCR in the long run will be the thing that helps this economy the most.

I bet you a dollar to a doughnut.

1. I see your point but don't think it will fly...HCR is a win for Obama
I don't see anyone in the public buying this story line. As ineffective as we generally are on messaging, I do think we successfully (and correctly) painted the Republicans as the party of NO on this issue.

3. It depends on what passes for health care reform. If it's a bill that allows
the health insurance companies to get tax payer's money for a "public option" instead of an extension of Medicare, I will let them take the credit because the former whistleblower exec. from Cigna (name escapes me) says it is doomed to failure and that politicians will have to come back to the table to do serious reform years down the line. Sure, let them take credit if that's what is passed.

5. it was obvious when obama lined up all those bigwigs who had opposed clinton's efforts
that SOMETHING would pass that would be trumpeted as "health insurance reform".
the question has always been exactly what that would mean.

i agree, though, i am more confident than i was a few weeks ago that the final bill will be a good meaningful step in the right direction, and hopefully the start of a trend.

i never for one minute thought it would be the ultimate answer to the excess profits and all around rotten behavior of the insurance industry.

But people are going to remember how hard they tried to derail HCR....They will remember how they tried to scare the hell out of elderly people...
