The Senate health care bill will be negotiated between Max Baucus and Chris Dodd?

One a total insurance whore and the other married to an insurance whore???

Where's Tom Harkin? Didn't he take Teddy's place as comittee chair?

1. Harkin was on the air earlier saying he cedes the actual negotiations to Dodd.
Sweet, huh?

:sarcasm:

Bend over and smile .....

Shit. I don't trust Dodd with this any further than I could throw him.

3. It was Harkin's decision:
Harkin says Obama will sign healthcare bill with public option by Christmas

"Well, because I have designated Senator Dodd to be the lead person on health care reform," Harkin said. "He started it. And I felt it was important to keep him on, Senator Dodd, as our lead person on health care reform."

4. Makes me think the fix has been in all this time.
Max Baucus is a non-entity from an underpopulated and depressed state. He shouldn't have that kind of senatorial power, unless the senate is owned by the insurance industry and now we know for sure.

10. I interpret this as Harkin washing his hands of it, so all blame goes to Dodd and Baucus
when it's unveiled in all it's ugliness.

Someone tell me I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong. I have a feeling the fix is already in, the bill smells and Harkin's bailing because there's no way to undo the bad news.

14. Senator Dodd is a good man and he will do what is necessary
He has some problems with his interests in the Banking Industry but in Health Care he will do what most Democrats like..Baucus is not really a bad guy either and was trying his damndest to get some Republican support. When the final Bill hits Obama's desk we will be cheering I believe.

17. Dodd's wife makes her money from the soulless vampire insurance industry
It's a complete conflict of interest, and do you really think he's gonna take money out of his wife's pocket?

18. No, I'm pretty sure Baucus is a bad guy
I liked Dodd, but that was before I was aware of all these conflicts of interest he has. My support has waned but I still have a bit of trust in him.

16. Dodd is in big trouble in Connecticut. Maybe they think if he takes a pivotal role
in a good bill, he can claw his way back into the good graces of Connecticut.

Or. . . since he is a dead man walking election wise, they decided to let him take the fall for a crappy bill.
