People need an escape from the dark and dreary...
We need a good news story to relieve our minds and give us hope. Face it, a good portion of what goes on in the world is hopelessly depressing. I don't fault people for occasionally turning away from 5 o'clock news murder-announcement hour. Call it blissful ignorance or whatever you'd like. I find it a weak, yet endearing quality of the human condition.

1. A good proportion of what's *reported* is *spun* to be depressing and *disturbing*
because market research shows that's what grabs attention. All sorts of nice things happen all the time.

5. We don't need to spin much of what's reported in order for it to be depressing.
We really don't report enough on the horrific events going on in the world. People don't like to be depressed. They like sensationalism.

4. That was the first thing I said to my b/f...
Sounds like a Disney movie in the making. Glad they found him... hiding, as suspected.

3. Counting your blessings is theraputic...
Taking a deep, cleansing breath between blessings is probably a good thing too.
