and while I don't know the end, they said the victim was a doctor who performed abortions and they did ask the suspect about his views on the subject.

She just shouldn't have gone home with a charming stranger she met in a bar.

9. Well it turns out it had more with alcoholism

but they did raise the issue of the pro-choice people killing pro-choice doctors.

5. On NetFlix streaming I've watched season after season of L&O SVU.

I am finishing up season 8 now and have 9 and 10 on deck. It's nice to be able to watch them one after another without commercials.

8. When there is no other way to teach people about these issues I

like to watch shows on TV that take a realistic view. CSI: Miami had a homeless family on their show this week. Little sermons that are short enough for those with short attention spans.

11. My favorite crime show is

"Criminal Minds." Of all the L&Os, SVU is my fave.

I don't think some people realize that the crime shows don't make it all up. They troll police blotters, change names, and there ya go. They don't even dare touch some of the worst stuff.

12. I love Law and Order: SVU. It's my secret indulgence.

My husband always makes fun of me because it can be...tawdry sometimes. But they are very good at tackling liberal issues.

I remember one episode where the girl was so desperate for an abortion she had her boyfriend beat her with a lamp. When the DA tried to charge her boyfriend with assault, it turned out that the girl had tried to get a legal abortion, but the state that she lived in did not allow it without parental consent (her father had already thrown her sister out of the house for getting pregnant) and when she went to NY to get one the doctor she saw at a pregnancy crisis center purposely lied to her and postponed the procedure until it was too late to get a legal abortion.

My favorite thing about the episode was that it reminded people that when women have choice taken away from them, they will (and did) try horrific means obtaining an abortion.

Generally L & O facilitates discussions on serious issues. They're a better reality check than most of the so called news' discussions.
