I just realized the benefits of a DU-Education:
I was just at the dedication of a magnificent new high school in my Community - I'll spare you the details of why I was there. After the speeches, they had a ribbon-cutting and the big asshole whom I had never seen before, standing next to me, sneered: "We'll be paying higher taxes for this place for the next 20 years." To which I instantly replied, "I'd rather pay for this than pay for blowing up already nearly pulverized rocks in Afghanistan."

He just grunted...

I smiled smugly to myself...

11. No sense starting a fistfight at a high school...
but that, and other lines, would be quite tempting.

6. Money spent on education usually bears a return on the investment.

The money BushCo blew on alleged "emergency no-bid contracts" and eventually ended up in their
own corrupt pockets is what our grandkids will be paying off when they are wage earners.

7. Now to get magnificent teachers in the classroom
The building is only an opportunity. The teachers make it magic.

8. "You can pay for a school now, or a prison ten years from now. Your choice."
That's as near a quote as I can make it -- wish I could find the original. I seem to recall it was someone from Mark Twain's hometown of Hannibal, MO, although I don't believe it was MT who told the story.

9. Cue the Pomp and Circumstance.
You have graduated!

Yeah, it's a rather indispensable tool. I won't admit to how much DU has contributed to my "socialization". What a great phenomenon.

14. Good one!
You could also have told him to consider it an investment in the future where better educated people can find jobs, learn how to socialize and improve their communities.

I wonder if you would have gotten a second grunt, or if one was his limit?
