ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Authorities have identified a child's body found in a Georgia landfill as missing 7-year-old Somer Thompson, NBC News reported Thursday.

The partially covered body of the child was found in a near the Florida state line, after investigators followed garbage trucks leaving from the neighborhood where Thompson disappeared Monday.

1. RIP, dear child....
How very sad... I used to walk to school and to think that parents may not be safe in allowing their child to do so now, is heart-breaking.

4. very sad ... but when I read one person saying "We hope it's not her"
I remembered something someone said a while back in a similar situation ... about how that would mean you had two murdered kids ...

horrible enough for one set of families ...

5. Yeah, really...
Once you find a child's body--or anyone's body, period--there's just not going to be a happy ending one way or another. Somewhere, someone is likely to be grieving (in fact, one hopes someone loved the person enough to grieve). Even if the body was placed in its location a long time ago.

Poor girl, may she rest in peace. I hope her family can get justice.
