This is the wimpiest excuse for a "public option" that could have been cobbled together.

it won't be very competitive against the insurance companies. This is a half-measure at best, that ultimately protects big insurance that is slitting this country's throat. We need to drop the opt-out and take up Ron Wyden's equal availability provision. Then it will be a true public option.

11. I agree we have to do something but I still think it is a failure

Anything is better than nothing, but until we get a public option for everyone it is a failure in my book. I want to be able to drop my employer's insurance and get into the public option, but like I said something is better than nothing and even though it probably won't benefit me right now hopefully it will benefit someone. I just hope they are doing it in a way that they are not writing the insurance companies a blank check. Is the mandate in or out? Because if that is still in then not having a public option that covers everyone is just a big fat check to the insurance companies.

If there is still a stiff fine for not having health insurance, but I can't join the public option, I'm gonna come out swinging.
