1. At this point, I have to go with the first statement.
We have our beachhead. The righties are furious. So we must be doing something right...

2. The end result will be just the beginning.
Eventually, most people will be on the public option or Medicare. It will be expanded over the years like social security.

3. Only question is, how much time do you think will be involved?
I'm fairly certain UnitedHealthCare and Humana will take it out on their policyholders during the interim.

5. Reid hung the "public option" label on a big pile of not much.
This is the wimpiest excuse for a "public option" that could have been cobbled together.

This is eyewash.

Face it, folks, we've been had.

9. Unless everyone can get in the pool.............

it won't be very competitive against the insurance companies. This is a half-measure at best, that ultimately protects big insurance that is slitting this country's throat. We need to drop the opt-out and take up Ron Wyden's equal availability provision. Then it will be a true public option.

11. I agree we have to do something but I still think it is a failure
Anything is better than nothing, but until we get a public option for everyone it is a failure in my book. I want to be able to drop my employer's insurance and get into the public option, but like I said something is better than nothing and even though it probably won't benefit me right now hopefully it will benefit someone. I just hope they are doing it in a way that they are not writing the insurance companies a blank check. Is the mandate in or out? Because if that is still in then not having a public option that covers everyone is just a big fat check to the insurance companies.

12. And that in itself could cause me to oppose the reform package altogether
If there is still a stiff fine for not having health insurance, but I can't join the public option, I'm gonna come out swinging.
