German solar company, SMA to open plant in Denver

yet the republicans are bitching that it isn't an American company.

when they themselves (along with Big OIL) stifled solar technology in the US for the last 30 years. It is NO wonder No American company exists That builds Solar converters.
A company that manufactures 40% of the market in solar converters is expanding and hireing... (granted lower wages @ $30,000) But at least 300 jobs. It's a Start damit.

Fucking Idiots! those republicans.

1. $30,000 a year is a whole lot
better than unemployment. Wouldn't it be nice if this trends? I truly believe American workers can easily prove their metal against any other workers on the planet.

5. Agreed
...and without state Tax breaks! If The company were to have offered a base salary of 40,000 a year they would get a really nice Tax incentive from the State.

2. Good for them. They are smart business people that can recognize markets
and they see that the U.S. is potentially the largest market in the world for solar power generation. And we should be leading the world in the production of components.

We should have been hearing a lot more announcements like this coming from American companies after the stimulus package, but alas.

3. It's a decent salary for workers starting out
It's double the minimum wage and once they learn some skills, they will be able to earn more money. Denver is a good location for this firm. Hope it all works out well for everyone.

4. History is doing a strange morph
Edited on Tue Oct-27-09 10:29 AM by lunatica
Germany was the main instigator of WWII in their attempt to become a world order in their attempt to build a thousand years of the Third Reich and it took the US entering the war to beat them back on the Western front. Now Germany is ahead of the US in saving the planet. Strange that.

I can see the morph in my head. Both of Germany and the US. What a difference a few decades make!
