1. A better question is what idiot is trying to sell the book in this time slot?

2. If they want to throw their money away...
I want Countdown to take it! And whoever else wants to take it!

6. LOL! That might be why the producers were happy to air it.

5. It's a win-win
Newsmax helps Countdown get revenue (money in Keith's pocket), and Newsmax does not get ONE single new subscriber.

A few years ago, The Nation magazine accepted Fox News ads on their back cover. There were lots of letters pro and con, and I reached the same conclusion: it helped the recipient of the ad revenue by a far greater proportion than the buyer of the ad.

9. Also a huge waste of Newsmax's money
If they think anyone who watches "Countdown" is going to subscribe to their shitty rag, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell them. The same goes for those anti-health care reform commercials that they're running during that time period. Let 'em throw that money away. Better during Keith's show than on FOX, with all those brain-dead automatons watching.

18. That was part of my point
The second "win" in the win-win. Proportion, etc.

8. Is there such a thing as a Palin-free channel?
She's not even governor, anymore, so why is she still in the news? The only place I want to hear her mentioned is on David Letterman's "Things More Fun to Do Than Reading the Sarah Palin Memoir..." Last night it was being burned by boiling cooking oil... x(

15. Thanks so much! That's Jack...
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 09:54 PM by Rhiannon12866
He's a Brussels Griffon. The vet tech who placed him with us said "he's a big dog in a little dog's body..." :D

Jack :loveya:

When we went to doggy class last year, the smallest dog of the six was a very tiny Yorkie. He was, by far, the toughest pup in the class. Even Jack gave him a wide berth, and Jack's "brother," at home, was a 100 lb. Airedale! His name was Toto and he was extremely cute... O8)

11. I see ads for conservative crap
on DU all the time. Last weekend, I kept seeing ads for Carly freakin' Fiorina, for pete's sake. I guess if you can hide the ads you don't see them but they are here, nevertheless. It's all bidness, apparently.

14. You can get rid of the ads very easily!
Donate to DU, and get a star! I've seen worse ads on countdown. They don't pick and choose whose money to take. I've seen a lot of anti health reform ads, and ads against Chris Dodd...which piss me off no end!!

16. are there any known bulk buyers?
it's customary for conservatives to buy books in bulk and then give them away, i sure hope KO unearths it before Jon Stewart's crew!

17. The right wing has been blitz advertising during Olberman's show
all this week and it's not just Bible Barbie's book on Newsmax.

I don't know what their reasoning is and would worry about myself if I did, but it's pretty obvious they're wasting their money.

I love it.
