Anyone watching "The lost JFK tapes" on National Geographic...interesting thing I saw
I'm sure this will eventually make it to the dungeon, but I'm watching this show and they have a lot of film footage from that weekend. During the part where Tippit was shot, they were showing the scene and they showed a gun and said "This is the gun used to shoot officer Tippit". Then they talked about how they busted Oswald with a gun in the theater.

So Oswald took 3 weapons with him to work that day? Any of you JFK buffs know anything about this?

2. What is also interesting is
If you read the eyewitness accounts of the Tippit shooting, many of them say they saw the shooter running away with the gun in his hand.

3. No, he took only the rifle to the depository.
He went to the house his wife was staying at, where he was keeping the rifle. Oswald had rented a room in Dallas and would go to her on the weekends. That week, he uncharacteristically went to her on a Thursday, and after the assassination, she discovered the rifle missing.

The gun he used to shoot Tippit, he kept at his room. After the assassination, he left the book depository, took a cab to the vicinity of his rented room, went and got the gun, and then walked to the place where Tippit saw him and pulled him over.

4. This was in 15 minutes
So what was the revolver they showed the Dallas cop holding when the reporter said "This is the gun that was used to shoot officer Tippit"?

5. As far as I know, it was the gun they got from him at the theater, the one he shot Tippit with.

He never discarded it.

ETA: Oh, and on time, he didn't live that far from downtown. He probably walked it before then. The cab ride was 5 or 10 minutes at the most.

6. The footage they showed was from the scene of the Tippit shooting
The cop was holding it with a white cloth.

7. It was just a couple blocks away from the theater.
I'd have to see the video you're talking about. The time of this video is established?

I hit record on my DVR to re-watch it, but it was news footage from the Tippit shooting.

They are showing it again on Sunday at noon.

10. Another thing to look for
They show a cop holding up a white windbreaker. Oswald was seen leaving his rooming house wearing a dark jacket.

12. Yes they showed it
But as the motorcade turns from Main onto Houston, there is an agent on the back of Kennedy's car. As they turn the corner, he jumps off and then appears to once again shrug his shoulders.
