14 People Have Unrec-ed This Post - What Do I Not Understand Here?
Edited on Tue Nov-24-09 08:04 PM by MannyGoldstein
As of the time I'm posting this, 14 people have unrec-ed this heartfelt and personal post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=7081624&mesg_id=7081624

Yet not a single unrec-er will have the common courtesy to save why.

Why on Earth would anyone do this? What are we dealing with here?

1. It's a Free Country

or at least, a free website.

Anybody can be a fool. Just look at the GOP.

And as for denial, the US has cornered the market.

Don't take it too hard, Manny. It's November, and it's hell.

I have to say, you are lucky to have made it this far. My business died in 2004. Bush killed it. I started in 2000, was on the verge of breaking even in 18 months, and 9/11 and then the collapse of tourism and the auto industry...held out as long as I could, but when that bastard got another four years, I knew things were not going to improve, and I refused to get any further in debt and folded.

It was heart-breaking, and an expensive lesson in the futility of expecting anything from a GOP, a Bush, and anybody else in power.

2. Honestly?
Stop paying so much attention to rec/unrec and just get on with yourself.

There have been 27 posts to that thread, obviously it wasn't ignored.

8. So what?
It's positive 58 right now.

Are you upset that there are people that don't feel that thread is worthy of the greatest page?

Again, so what? People are entitled to their opinions, aren't they?

It's well into the positive side so the majority have spoken. The thread made it to the greatest.

Threads like this make me shake my head in wonderment and amusement.

14. You have the right to feel what you feel. Of COURSE it hurts, and you are right to say so,.
Ya gotta love people who legislate what you can feel and think and express.

In the same league as those who will unrec a thread just because....

:hi:

9. If It Makes It To the "Top 10 Lists" Page...
There's a category that gives the recs+unrecs+replies. Knowing that number, along with recs-unrecs (the number found at the post), you can do a little algebra and get the numbers.

I'm a nerd :)

(Of course I'm not a very good nerd anymore, so I screwed the calculations up first time. I think I've corrected them.)

10. I didn't unrec it, but I think the person is blaming the wrong party
Congress has to write the bill, and Chris Dodd did, and the republicans are blocking it. I'm sure Lieberman would block it too. The President can't do anything unless he has a bill before him to sign. It is a shame that the banks and Wall Street own the congress.

11. Let me give you a few possible rreasons:
1. The whole "I can't use a debit card for my small business" doesn't ring true. Anyone knows that you can use a debit card with a visa or mc logo anywhere you can use a regular cc card. In fact that's actually written into the merchant agreement.

2. The post isn't very coherent - it rambles on from business credit card woes to personal medical issues and does not focus clearly on what the person is trying to say. I get the OP is having a rough time and she blamed the Obama administration for it. But she rambles on from credit card woes to the arthritis shots she needs for her knees.

3. The post comes across a being a bit whiny and self centered. She is going through a lot of problems . We ALL are through a lot of problems. She blames Obama for some of it . Well - so do I. Welcome to the club. What's new really?

Those are just my thoughts on the post .

12. Because Democrats are as tribal and loyal
to their individual politicians and party as the republicans are and anything that contradicts their view of the world as they want to be is a threat that must be eliminated in one way or another.

13. Because some people don't think that Obama is all to blame.
If it were just about the poster's woes, then I would understand your complaint more.

Some people don't think that Congress is more at fault, or the republicans.

I'm not too surprised that there are some people who were turned off by that.

16. In all sincerity,
I believe numerous posters here are paid to attack administration and/or DLC critics and defend every decision of the administration or actions of DLCers. They are organized and 100% predictable.

I'm not calling anyone out, just saying what it looks like to me.

It doesn't do anything to a post other them maybe keep it off the greatest page.

The thread is controversial so some people don't like it. And there it is on the greatest page anyway - so the consensus view is thumbs up.
