I Just Want To Publicly Proclaim My Love For Senator Franken
Edited on Wed Dec-02-09 07:25 PM by MannyGoldstein
I didn't think much of Franken as a candidate. But I'm shocked to find myself starting to like him more than any other Democrat in government.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4168300">His anti-rape bill flushed out a gaggle of evil men and showed them for what they are - they're mad as hell, but Franken's not backing down an inch. Uh-oh - they'll be nothing under your Hannakuh tree from Halliburton for you, Sen. Franken!

When a health care shill showed up to make crap up in front of the Senate, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgqqSHr0wVA">he gave her a whuppin' she won't soon forget. No big health insurance money for you, Sen. Franken!

When a crowd of teabaggers accosted him, looking for blood, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCNs7Zpqo98">he talked them down and explained to them how a non-shitty health care system works for them. They actually seemed to get it.

Go Al! Keep it up, we need a few Democrats in out court!

Let the unrec-ing orgy begin!

4. Long-time Franken fan here.
I read his political books, listened to his radio show on Air America, and was completely impressed with his intellect, his thoroughness, his research team, his thoughtfulness, and his honest humanity -- supported him as a candidate and am cheering him on now.

K&R.

8. Franken is definitely NOT applying for membership in the Capitol Old Boy Club, which...
...continues to be run by Republicans, evidently--Democratic majorities in both Houses notwithstanding.

His training as a comedian and writer has sharpened his ability to root out the Republican crap and put it on display for all to see. I hope he'll continue to do so for a long time to come. Hell, there's enough material to keep him busy for decades.

11. You see why he is good as what he is doing
Common sense. No corporate sponsorship yet. And I hope he doesn't get to be one. I am so glad that he had the guts to stand up to the republican machine in our state and show them they couldn't roll over him, the way they usually do when they try to steal a seat.

18. So many here were complaining that he was DLC last fall
I think he has proved himself now. And he really wanted to defeat Normie to get Wellstone's seat back.

22. I always loved Al
I'm sure I'll disagree with him here and there and maybe strongly on occasion but I never saw anything that would make him anything less than ahead of the pack in the Democratic Caucus.
