Am I the only one who doesn't give a flying damn about Tiger Woods?
He's a great golfer. I'm not a golfer and don't care much, but OK. I can see getting excited about that. If you're into golf.

But his personal life? Yawn.

He's not the Dalai Lama and I don't give a shite.

(I don't really give a shite about the Dalai Lama either.)

When a black man gets a little bit of success he reaches for a white woman and the press automaically deems them as o fucking k. Appropriate for mass consumption.

She had my grandparents over for lunch, and they brought up Tiger Woods, and I guess she went on a rant about how there were more important things going on in the world than Tiger Woods having sex. Then she called me and ranted about it after they left... anyway, totally agree. I think it's disgusting that stories like that are the "top news" on sites like Yahoo, while stories about Afghanistan, the economy, and healthcare reform are relegated to the bottom of the page. Most people and the MSM have their priorities seriously out of whack.

cave for about six weeks after Michael Jackson's death, that's ALL you ever heard about EVERYWHERE in ALL forms of media. There was NO getting away from it no matter what you did. It was as if he were the fucking pope or something, instead of just a two-bit has-been drugged-out pedophile singer. Meanwhile, we had the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, health care, the economy, etc., etc., etc. I am SICK TO DEATH of the tabloid press mentality that shows no signs of fading anytime soon, in fact, it's just getting worse.

about him. I'm not into golf and he's always seemed to me to be an arrogant egotistical phoney-baloney. I'm not at all surprised that he's done this and I feel bad for his wife (although I don't agree at all with her violence, if she'd been a man she'd have been crucified for it by now and she shouldn't be excused just 'cause she's a scorned woman). I'm already sick to death of hearing about it. Everyone's acting all shocked, but he's given many indications throughout the years that he's not the Great Moral Role Model he's made out to be. People and the media just didn't want to see it.

73. I measure the affliction on the land.
Golf wastes and poisons land that should be habitat for all life. Too much in the way of valuable plants and animals are displaced by this supposed game that requires pesticides, herbicides and over fertilization to maintain a really ugly landscape.

I don't give a rat's ass who plays golf, they are anti-environment if they do this crap. Period.

I am not interested in your circular logic.

as for the "really ugly landscape"....I dunno...

we have some very lovely golf courses in my area.

I'd much rather see that open space...grass, trees, small ponds... than to see it filled up with cheap condos or housing developments which really are an affliction upon the land.

78. You are chasing your tail
Golf courses are U-G-L-Y. They are over fertilized and herbicide laden grasslands with far less wildlife and vegetation then they could support if they were allowed to exist in a natural state.

You are blind if you think these things are anything less then wastelands of lawn with very little plant and animal life on them.

88. I wouldn't call them wastelands
How do you feel about public parks then? Or community baseball fields? Keep in mind, I'm not lobbying for private courses/country clubs, but what's so bad about affordable municipal golf courses? Especially those in urban areas that would otherwise be covered in concrete as the newest strip mall or parking structure.

I practically grew up on my local municipal golf course. It was one of the only places where I could actually spot wildlife (deer, hawks, turtles, beaver, woodchucks, etc.). And I was the son of factory workers, certainly not a member of the elite. Golf may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for those of us that love the game - our lives have been enriched and we have been taught lessons that we would not have learned if not for the links.

But back to the OP, the Tiger Woods story is only this big because he may be the most dominant athlete that has ever existed (at least in the modern era).

92. I hate the way they trim off lower tree branches, the chemicals, and
lawn height grass in parks and golf courses. I am not fond of this in playing fields either.

There should be MANDATORY hedgerows and green buffers in urban areas. So I view these places as nt being 'inevitably' blighted unless planners are greedy, stupid and myopic.

I am an urban tree sitter that has defended trees in parks and on road right of ways. I even nearly died being pulled from a tree near a new Nike Store where trees were cut and fell three stories and was in a coma a couple of weeks and broke all the bones in my lower arms and liquefied my wrists.

I still defend trees, but next time I am attacked, someone is going with me if it is as serious an interdiction as last time.

I also do forest defense, and donate allot of money to stop the killing of whales and dolphins.

I an very serious about this passion for the wild.

loved his golf game, but wished he were more politically outspoken/involved in the black communities...But instead of scandalous outrage I confess to sort of a perverse Schadenfreude in knowing that Woods has human failings just like (most of) the rest of us....The Mister 'perfectly-toned and always boilerplate soundbite' who since childhood has had one of the longest crafted, picture-perfect public images this side of the Prince of Wales...At least I sleep a little better at night knowing he ISN'T Dr. Manhattan, he isn't a robot, isn't a master-race clone from some lab, and isn't from another planet...

The Dalai Lama was giving a speech in the same convention center I was working in. It was amazing what a presence that man has! He could walk in the lobby and I swear hundreds of people either stopped talking or started whispering. No one rushed him for an autograph but most started smiling while just watching him. He just exudes peace, love and warmth.

Now if the Dalai Lama was chased down the road of his mansion by his pissed off wife and crashed his Escalade into his neighbor's tree, THAT would be news! ;)

He lives in a nice place, pays taxes, I would assume, is greatly talented, and has 2 kids with a wife he has cheated on.

So far he sounds like the majority of guys living in his neighborhood... really scary, eh?

To those caught up in the gossip, quit watching so much fucking reality tv.

62. No, you're not alone
I also can't be bothered to care what country the Pope is in.
I'm also sick to fucking death of news stories that can basically be summed up with: "The President and his wife visited a foreign country and talked with leaders. Just *look* at the dress/shoes Michelle is wearing! Look at the President's tie!!" without the first hint of the actual policy they discussed. I wanted to choke the life out of a bunch of people during Bow-Gate.

66. Typical MSM bullshit....
...owned and supported by the corporate gods, they wish to lead us away from the real problems in the USA by wooing us with articles about the sex life and loves of celebrities.

Gag me...:puke:

I could not care less if Tiger was sleeping with 1,000 different men and women. It does not matter one bit to me.

67. I don't like him....
and I can say the same thing about Michael Jordan. They have such a platform to speak from. Jordan could speak against slave wages in China where Nike's are made.

Woods could at least push Augusta to admit women.

But that would mean they would have to step up morally and give up some of that endorsement money from our Multinational Corporations that basically rule America and the world.

I won't buy Gillette, Gatorade, Nike, Hanes, nor the other crap they endorse.

They could change people's thinking and help thousands. But they just sit around and cheat on their wives.

At least the Dalai Lama has a spiritual life and tries to help others.

Oh...fuck golf. Chasing a little white ball around is stupid.

68. No, you aren't.
I have co workers giving me regular updates on the situation despite my loudly saying, "yeah, I really don't care about the situation." My wife and I talked about the whole celebrity/public relationship and that is all fine and good. What he did is messed up, but it is between him and his wife. The media just blows this shit out of proportion building up "heroes" then relishing in the ratings of tearing them down. Nonsense.

72. as a person without a TV, I am fascinated by these rants
I had no idea Tiger Woods' "episode" was STILL a hot item on the "news." Didn't that little escapade happen at least a week ago?

To avoid "tabloidization," turn off the TV! problem solved! You will get a whole new perspective on life. Without that blather, I can think more clearly, and I have a LOT more time to do stuff. I've been without TV since June, when I moved into a new house and decided not to get cable/satellite. I buy DVDs on eBay and amazon, or rent them or borrow from the library--but even those hardly get watched nowadays, as life without TV has just made other hobbies and interests and READING BOOKS more enjoyable.

77. what gets me
what gets me is Tiger's wood and his accident has police wanting to investigate. While the "DICK" that is Cheney shoots a man in the face while supposedly drunk and the media and law enforcement are both told there is no need for an investigation. And both the media and law enforcement give that Goofy laugh/reply of, HYUCK, OKIE DOKIE

but the tabloid media is pushing this story down our throats. I could understand the sensationalism of the story if it was 1899 but this is the 21st century over half of spouses cheat, big deal.:boring:

It astounds me that anyone is caught up in the story of a young billionaire athlete with zillions of women throwing themselves at him got some ass on the side.

I can't really understand the personal investment or interest.

90. Far more obsessing about his life than extramarital Republican affairs, including child molester,
Connecticut pervert, Mayor Philip Giordano, who had a prostitute mother deliver her little daughter and her neice to his offices, for his buggering convenience.

How does it always work out that way?
