Bernie Sanders - Help him help us buck Wall Street!
He put a hold on Bernanke's re-nomination.. We can say thank you.

received from BoldProgressives.org this morning:

BREAKING NEWS: Tonight, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) shocked Wall Street and the DC establishment by announcing a "hold" on the nomination of Bush's Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke for another 4-year term at the helm of our economy.

This is huge. Wall Street will not be happy, and they'll go after Sanders with everything they've got. Most senators wouldn't even consider going up against them like this. That's why Bernie Sanders is a real progressive hero.

At this link, you can also see great video of Sanders grilling Bernanke. It's a classic.

Please pass this to others immediately. We'll deliver all signatures to Sanders' DC office -- and by standing up for him, we can show other senators we'll get their back if they buck Wall Street.

Any senator can block a nomination by announcing a "hold." Sanders explained his decision:

“The American people overwhelmingly voted last year for a change in our national priorities to put the interests of ordinary people ahead of the greed of Wall Street and the wealthy few. What the American people did not bargain for was another four years for one of the key architects of the Bush economy.”

“People want a new direction and people are asking, where was the Fed? How did the Fed allow this to happen, when one of their mandates is to oversee the safety and soundness of the banking system?”

“It’s time for a change at the Fed.”

Another progressive senator, Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), said yesterday that Bernanke needs to "start giving a red hot damn about the American public."

And Bernanke has refused Bernie Sanders' and Rep. Alan Grayson's (D-FL) demand that the Federal Reserve tell Congress which banks received trillions in taxpayer bailouts.
