You know reality is really fugged up when I agree with
Ron Paul's foreign policy approach over Obama's.
I will not support the doctrine of preemptive war whether it's Bush or Obama. Sorry.

2. These are very strange times - I posted an article praising the
Republican Jim Bunning for hammering Bernanke. Upside down world.

6. Preemptive war my ass!
Edited on Thu Dec-03-09 07:46 PM by Are_grits_groceries
The CIA and others have made up so much shit that I don't believe a word they say. If there is some group or country they don't like for whatever reason, they will call them terrorists and scare the bejesus out of us. Those assholes have so many hidden agendas, who knows why we would really be fighting.

With the help of Congress, they have enacted a version of preemptive war against the citizens of this country. If they think you are up to something based on Gawd knows what evidence, they can yank you right out of your house and put you in some hole.

It's not okay to preemptively blast the hell out of somebody because you might have a clue. If they are that sure that there is a clear and present danger, then they need to address that situation. If they haven't figured out by now that waging war has changed dramatically, then they need to resign and get other jobs.

We aren't up against entire countries and populations in most cases now. Our battles will be against groups that may not represent a country. Our strategy should be to be as mobile and deadly as possible so that a threat can be taken out effectively if we have to move against them. If we do, it should be based on something other than somebody's imagination.

The same thing goes for the Unpatriotic Act, and every other abrogation of the rights of the citizenry. That shit needs to be repealed or whatever, and replaced with something sensible that will guarantee that people aren't picked up on whims.

We need to spend more effort on working with other countries and developing real intelligence that will hopefully identify hotspots before they erupt. the last thing we need to do is send in the big footprint of our entire military might. We have and will wear ourselves out chasing guerillas who know how to run a regular army ragged.

Sermonette is now over.

8. Obama started a war?
Does the fact that the troop increase rate hasn't changed since his announcement have any effect your argument?
