I'm convinced, Scrooge was a republican,
I'm watching the 1938 version of "A Christmas Carol". It strikes me as being very relevant today, especially with the health care debate. I can hear today's teabaggers whining, "Are there no work houses?", and "Let them die and decrease the surplus population". But in the end, Scrooge came around and became a Democrat, not a christian, but a Democrat. HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

4. Hard to do if you are not familiar with Ayn Rand
The gist of Ayn Randian Libertarian is "I've got mine and got it through my own hard work, and if you were a better person, you'd get yours." Basically people are poor because they chose that and it is ok if you pray upon them as they always have another choice even if it were like Oliver Twist and the choice of having to starve.

One major tip off - the comment from Scrooge about workhouses and prisons and why help out when his taxes already support these institutions is straight from the Ayn Randian style of Libertarian politics.

5. "pray" upon ... Much meaning to be found in that typo.
... and it has worked for thousands of years.

Your synopsis of Rand is insightful, and even more concise than "Cliff's Notes"

6. True, but I suspect he'd vote RRR. He's savvy enough to know the Libs haven't got a prayer. nt
