Rules on calling out members with low-post count
Do not draw negative attention to the fact that someone is new, has a low post count, or recently became a member of Democratic Underground. Do not insinuate that because someone is new, they are a troll or disruptor.

2. Ahem, would it be okay to suggest there's something amiss if every
last post a newbie posts is negative and inflammatory towards the current admin?

8. The fact that the rule is being broken is a signal that not "all" of us know

speak for yourself, or explain what made you think everyone knows the rule.

13. Honestly
Edited on Sat Dec-26-09 03:06 PM by Lost-in-FL
How can anyone ignore the rules when every once in a while a DUer feels the need of shoving the rules on people's faces because they feel frustrated about something. Also, many times moderators posts the rules that were violated and a link for the general rules after giving someone a sometimes well deserved pizza. As an adult, general or normal rules of human interaction and respect should suffice but for the not-so-adult, rules are needed.

I don't feel the need to be accepted. I have been here for a while and have a low post count (and perhaps have a very high number of people who have me on ignore). I am over feeling mad about what people post here and only pay attention to the good. Just take it easy and enjoy what's good on this board. Don't take it too seriously.

Edited to add: There's truly comical things in this board. Really, enjoy the good times.

21. You apparently don't know DU rules
Under DU rules, if you suspect a post violates the DU rules, you are supposed to alert the post and move on.

So if you suspect a post violates DU rules, you should alert and move on.

5. I would NEVER call out a member wit a low post count
What I think in my own mind but never post, however, cannot be governed by anybody's rules.

9. How low is low? I've seen determined DUers put on more than 1000 posts in a month.
That makes it pretty easy to run up a post count. On the other hand you would think that those who are intent on disrupting would at least wait until their post count got over 10 or 12.

The rules are there for a reason though. I have seen DUers with low post counts (maybe in the only few hundreds) who have been at DU for years. Just because somebody has an unpopular opinion does not mean they are a troll ripe for the piling on by those who want to maintain DU purity.

10. It's used by some as a heuristic.

Some people just want a quick, easy way to dismiss ideas and information which conflict with their own beliefs.

15. If by conflict you mean have nothing to do with Democratic ideals,
then you may have a point.... but then, that is supposedly what we are all here for. If I see someone posting things that do not seem Democratic, liberal, progressive etc, and they have a low post count TOO, then I am likely to assume they are a Freeper. At that point I search their username to see if other posts confirm or dispute that idea and decide whether to alert on them.

Post count is just one of the factors.

12. Also a rule against starting a thread for something you should ALERT.
If you've read the rules, then you know this thread is inappropriate.

If someone starts a thread attacking new posters as a class, ALERT on it. Let the process work.

14. I have +50,000 posts, and I'm asked all of the time if I'm a paid to post here......
which I am not.

If being here since 2003, as a contributor and donor
doesn't stop posters from asking me,
I'm not sure why there are special rules for Newbies trashing
the Democratic President here at Democratic Underground
from the day that they join!

So guess Newbies should feel right at home!

welcome Newbies and low count posters to Democratic Underground,
where everyone is suspect if what you say doesn't align with
whomever you are talking to. Seems like you are receiving
equal treatment as some of the old timers. :hi:
