2. Yeah, and what most of those 95% earn wouldn't feed a hamster here.
Just showing raw earnings means nothing when you don't factor in cost of living.

9. Indeed. I've earned $200 U.S. per month living abroad
Not only would that be impossible to live on here but even in the developing and underdeveloped countries in which I lived, it was still quite a stretch although I could survive.

every time I return to the US and go into a supermarket, I marvel at the bounty we take for granted, as just one example

so many people live in grinding poverty that is just unimaginable to many, many Americans
