ON CNN.COM: Egypt's 'Dr. Ruth': Muslims need better sex
Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 08:33 PM by Bicoastal
Once you get past the potentially offensive title, this is actually quite a good read. One outspoken woman may not make a huge difference, but I'm always in favor of taboo-breaking if it may have a postive impact on a culture. (Didn't anyone else see "Kinsey"?)

Just as long as the aforementioned change comes from within, and not forced on by outsiders.

1. they are sexually repressed...
at least compared to Western nations. I am sure some would think our sexualized culture is not a good model- but I prefer more freedom, not less.

3. Circumcision is a misleading term
genital mutilation is more accurate. A circumcised male is still able to enjoy sex and achieve orgasm. What is done to women involves the removal of the enitre clitoris, not just the hood. In the most extreme cases, the labia is sewn shut with just a small opening left to allow urniation and mensturation. The mutilation can be so severe that it makes childbirth more difficult and dangerous.

4. Good start
It will take many many years to break down taboos over there, but a good start anyway.
