Umm, whaaaat??
Edited on Sun Jan-31-10 03:51 PM by madamesilverspurs
The following was posted (in our local newspaper) as a comment about the recent Supreme Court decision:

"The Supreme Court had to do this. It was and is the only way to save NBC so it can come up with the ad dollar revenue to not go broke from the Conan/Jay tonight show fiasco and the incredible overpriced bid they are now forced to pay to air the Olympics live and finalize the Comcast merger. This lifting of corporate and union spending on TV ads is necessary to save "free" TV as well as NBC. If this did not happen, NBC was going to be forced to run 12 to 14 hours a day of Sham WOW and Pocket Fisherman commercials, both companies that Roberts, Scalito, Thomas, Kennedy, and Alito have filed numerous consumer complaints with unsuccessfully. They have decided the best way to fight back was to allow unregulated corporate/union backed political ads to compete for Sham WOW and Pocket Fisherman ad space to get back at them, that is the behind the scenes story on this landmark decision. Watch TMZ tonight."

3. If I'm reading this right...
...then the SCOTUS ruling in Citizens United v. FEC was motivated by the Supremes' desire to get those dreadful ShamWow commercials off the TV? So we've thrown away our democracy in order to never have to see Vince Offer again? Hmmm. Actually, it seems like a pretty fair trade to me.

6. "You're really gonna like my Nuts."
Now having said that and seeing this is from Greeley, (Weld county) Colorado... I am not surprised at all... really that place is infested with republicans. they sent Marylin Musgrave(R) to congress after all, a real loony toon...
that seat is Betsy Markey(D) now.

8. I wish SCOTUS did not have to spend so much time on Pocket Fisherman ...
or rather, apparently, the right-wing members of the Court, who are apparently obsessed with Ron Popeil. Think of the things that could be done.

Ok..I remember where I have heard that kind of thought flow before.
In my Haldol deprived patients.

that is almost pure word salad.

But as good a reason for the court decision as any, eh?
