As the most-watched television event of the year, the Super Bowl has long been an occasion for edgy and controversial advertisements. Major corporations routinely use it as an opportunity to produce raunchy and risqué ads to sell beer, snacks, and even internet domain names.
But in the past, CBS has said that they have a policy against running advocacy advertising. In addition to rejecting MoveOn's ad in 2004, they've rejected PETA ads about vegetarianism and an ad from a progressive church open to gays and lesbians.
