Bush: "But I have to tell you I don’t feel guilty..."

http://libn.com/blog/2010/02/26/presidents-bush-speak-to-lia/

<snip>

“But I have to tell you I don’t feel guilty for getting after the Taliban or removing Saddam Hussein,” President George W. Bush said about his often criticized war record.

As for Sept. 11 tragedy, the president said he saw the attacks as a declaration of war, which he said shaped a lot of his policy decisions over his eight-year term.

“I got a first-hand look at the emotions” surrounding 9/11, he added. “And I fed off that.”

5. Ding ding! You got it.
I'd be damned surprised if he felt guilt or shame for anything. He'd need to have a conscience to feel those things.

11. That was my first thought
You'll also notice that Bush very narrowly defines what it is he looks at, whether it's the Taliban or getting rid of Saddam Hussein. In a very constricted sense, he doesn't feel guilty at all, as long as he doesn't expand his vision too widely. If you ask him about the billions of squandered dollars, the millions of ruined and lost lives, the damage done to U.S. prestige, or any other metric, he'll bring it back to killing Saddam. Nothing else enters the equation for Bush, and nothing else ever will.

He could be hanged for war crimes and crimes against humanity, and I believe he would honestly have no cognizance of having done anything. He would fall through the trap momentarily the most perplexed man who ever lived.

2. Bush and Cheney can STAND PROUD. The Obama Administration is NOT going
to investigate ANY potential wrong doing on their part.

That's the BEAUTY of being part of their CLUB. The one you and I as well as 99% of Americans are NOT in.

http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/phrasal-verbs/feed+off.html

Phrasal Verb: Feed off

Meaning: Use something to your advantage
Example: He FEEDS OFF people's fear of crime to get them to support his proposals.

A BULLY stuck in a "CHEERS LOUNGE" Mode...Bush meanders down historys path...and he has a nerve not to feel guilt after his fucked up 8 years.

The GOPers are paying dearly for installing the SOB...their lack of good judgement revealed poor decision making

Edited on Fri Feb-26-10 05:28 PM by hatrack
To be precise, he stood on the corpses of people who died because he couldn't be bothered to do his job.

But the following year he forgot all about it and went on to open his next present.

Very telling statement. I don't think emotion is a good thing to "feed" off when setting policy or determining a course of action. He might as well have said that he "exploited it" because we all know that that was the case.

But yes, he certainly did feed off 9/11 with regard to getting into Iraq. I suppose in his walnut-brain that actually does make sense.

and a conscience, in order to feel guilt or remorse or anything resembling human feelings.
