Bunnings obstruction of unemployment benefits extension made the Democrats look bad to me and probably others by reminding me how rarely Democrats did anything of the sort during the Bush years when they were in the minority and even when they won the majority.

Do Democrats understand that we truly do not give a shit about the spirit of the rules in the Senate?

Maybe they need to go back and read their Machiavelli. He said people do not care about how things get done, but whether they are a success or failure. If they make some Republicans cry, but get a stronger health care bill, made Wall Street our bitch, ended the wars, and made it possible for people to support their family with a 40 hour a week job, few people would care how they got there.

The Republicans seem to understand this and act on it aggressively even if they do it to serve a micro-minority of the very wealthy instead of all of us.

1. Dems are making a mockery of American democracy by being so weak and passive
They are completely undermining the essential competitive spirit of the American political system.

3. +1
It's especially irritating when they have the MAJORITY of Americans behind them -- just goes to show what sold-out shills many of them are, enough to make our party weak and ineffective.

2. Our Senators are not that committed to anything. Maybe getting
their corporate campaign funds. We cannot fault them, however,
we have settled for a laundry list of policies rather
than any philosophical stand.

5. You have to go back to the '60s and before to find "real" Democrats in Congress...
Back in the FDR era, the Dems were FIERCE FIGHTERS and some real progressives had actual power. By the late 1970's they became soft and tame, and by the '80's and '90's they were republican lite, mote "me, too" rather than the opposition party.
It is pretty disgusting that they feel like tough guys now, and that people actually think Obama and Democratic leaders are "socialists"-it's a real laugh.

6. Do you understand that Bunning is retiring and can make as big an ass out of himself as he pleases
with no down side? Do you understand that his antics hurt his own party far more than it did the Dems? Do you understand not only has no other Dem senator pulled such a stunt no other Republican senator has ever pulled that stunt?
