Love the HCR or hate it, you have to admit it is probably the most
exciting domestic political time for this country in a very long time.

Add the hyperbolic rhetoric from both sides and you get a political fix that can't be beat.

The old Chinese curse of may you live in interesting times is only for the weak at heart.

Bring it on, let's take it to the mat, air it all out.

At the very least we can say all, well, a good chunk of us can say, we gave it our best possible shot we could given the highly charged political times and the economic downturn...

Now into the breach and may we all make it through to the other side...

Huzzah, Huzzah...

3. Good God it's rhetorical and not literal...
Don't be so dramatic.

2. Huzzah is right!
Once more into the breach, my dear friends...once more!

Shakespeare knew how to rouse a crowd!

I am starting to feel very excited about the immediate future for all of us...

As well as very hopeful.

Yes, K&R

4. "our best possible shot"?
Not even fucking close. With the majority we allegedly have in both houses, we should have been able to walk in and say "Single Payer. Do it now, and if the Repukes don't like it, who fucking cares??"

But when so many "Democrats" AREN'T, and the "leadership" are gutless, nutless, spineless cowards, then what good is a "majority".

6. It is the best shot because the shot you and the other more romantic
people truly believe that there is some other realistic choice.

The reality on the ground is this is it.

Forget about the coulda woulda wish list.

The bill that is ready to be dropped in the hopper is not going to suddenly morph into the ideal progressive manifesto.

It is what it is and so it is the best shot we have.

5. As I have said before,
Edited on Wed Mar-17-10 01:56 AM by Rincewind
our choice is not between this bill and a much better bill, it's between this bill and no bill for at least 10 to 15 years. I really wanted single payer, would have been happy with Medicare for for all, but like what happened with Bill Clinton's attempt, if this fails now, nothing will be tried again for at least 15 years. And this is how it will be as long as it takes millions, or tens of millions to get elected to public office.

9. It's great until
you get sick and have no health care in, say, 2012.

It's a small step.
