Poll question: Which would you be more proud of if passed, Senate Health Care Reform or Grayson's Medicare Buy in?
There are good elements of the Senate Bill, but Alan Grayson's Medicare buy in is easier to understand, doesn't reward the people who caused the problem, would save more money, and energize the Democratic base in the next election (as well as be more popular with the public even Republicans since they used ''keep yur guvmint hands off'n ma Medicare!'' as one of their rallying cries against health care reform. It would be tough to turn around and say Medicare is evil when their base still has those signs in their garages (but the GOP would do it anyway).

Is it just me or do you think the Grayson bill would be more of victory for Democrats if it got passed and signed into law?

3. Lol, me too. But Grayson's bill would at least bring some
some peace to Democrats.

4. Sure it would be great
"IF" Grayson's bill would pass the house then the senate, but I have a better chance of winning a "billion" dollars in the lottery than the bill has of passing!

6. Looks like HCR with some modificaitons is a go...
But I like Grayson's bill.

So, if I had my druthers, both.

But the need is so great that either is acceptable.

21. STILL no votes for senate bill, that's impressive! I expected the five DLCers here to at least do
their duty, but even they can't get excited about it.

11. How, pray tell, does the Senate HCR LEAD TO a medicare buy-in?
What benefit does the Senate HCR bill offer to offset the government mandate that private citizens purchase a specific product from a private company, for the first time in our 221 years?

Are the benefits WORTH fascism?

When I was a kid I lived at a Navy base in Spain, while Franco ruled. Nice place. Low crime rate. Beautiful beaches. Where, if you were found on them after dark, you were liable to be shot by the Guardia Civil. No questions asked - shoot first, ask later. Was the trade off of low crime (not really true - that was just the public face) worth having the unmitigated police power hovering over your shoulder?

I'm not saying that this bill is one step away from a police state - but frankly, it's not much more than two or three. A law that you must have insurance is one thing - a law that you must buy it from a private, for-profit entity which feels no reciprocal responsibility to you is quite another.

It is government mandated extortion.

13. Neither Would Make Me "Proud"
I WANT Grayson's bill, because it's the very least the government should be providing to us. But I wouldn't be PROUD of it, even if it had a chance of becoming law.

I'm never proud of Congress if they do the right thing: I'm only less contemptuous. Corporate whores that they are, I don't expect good things from them often.

15. I chose Grayson's Medicare for Everyone ...
It is a much better bill, it would cover more people and take more of a bite out of for profit health care and it is not tainted by any backroom deals like the bill the administration is trying to force through now. Refer to the New York Times for further information on the backroom deals.

It has been confirmed by at least one Obama insider who was having pangs of conscience about the bad deal that Obama is trying to push off on the American people.

Medicare is health care. The bill before congress is an insurance bill.
