Karl Rove says GOP must deal with scandal

Former White House adviser Karl Rove, in a Bay Area appearance Tuesday, said the Republican National Committee's reimbursement for a nearly $2,000 expense at a Hollywood strip club raises questions about the party's management and whether the GOP has "procedures in place to spend money on elections - and not on jets and bondage clubs."

Rove said the RNC's latest scandal was not only disappointing but also must be addressed for the good of the party - and he appeared to have little sympathy for Steele on the matter.

Asked if the issue reflects directly on Steele, Rove said, "Sure it does."

"The chairman of the Republican National Committee, for good or for ill, is the steward of the party's money," he said. "And whenever you have whatever lax controls are down in the bowels of the building so that somebody can submit a $2,000 voucher for entertainment at Voyeurs ... somebody ought to go check the thesaurus and find out what that means."

Rove wouldn't go so far as to say Steele should resign, but neither did he offer a strong vote of confidence.

"The question is not Michael Steele," he said. "The question is the management of the building and whether the procedures are in place to spend money on elections - and not to spend money on jets and bondage clubs."

One need not have the same powers as The Amazing Kreskin to see that Steele is going to be thrown under the bus. I believe Turd Blossom started his assignment by getting this story front-and-center in the corporate media at the buttcrack of dawn on Monday morning, and I believe Steele will get the ax on Good Friday afternoon (but there won't be any resurrection after three days). I'll either be feted as a seer come Friday or jeered as a Nostradumbass, but I'm confident that Steele will be history by Friday evening.
