WI Senate Refuses Vote on Penalizing Biz That Hire Illegal Immigrants

Wisconsin businesses will not lose out on tax breaks for hiring illegal immigrants. The state Senate refused to vote Thursday on a last-minute bill to make those companies ineligible for state tax credits, property tax exemptions, and state and local government contracts.

Those caught hiring illegal immigrants would have lost out on those benefits for 7 years. Lawmakers of both parties supported the crackdown – but it had widespread opposition from manufacturing and agricultural groups. Senate Minority Leader Scott Fitzgerald blocked the bill’s passage on the final day of the session, thus killing it for the year.

2. And One Wonders Why They Keep Coming...
So the employer knows not only if they hire "illegals" they can avoid paying payroll taxes or benefits as well as dump the care of these people on the state and local services...which is where the xenophobes love to look as the cause. Meanwhile not only does the employer get the cheap labor, but a tax break as well. Yet where's the corporate media's "poutrage" on this? That's right...the law breakers here write the laws, are pasty white, buy advertising time and make big contributions. Shameful.
