3. Yes we are not opposites
It is one of the more telling parts of the "left right" debate. It is presented as opposites, or reflections of each other in a mirror. But that's a false metaphore. It's more like cats and dogs. They are not opposites, nor reflections. They are two different animals. The left is far more connected to science, proof, and debate. They tend to hate echo chambers and actually go looking for the intellectual confrontation.

The right prefers dogma, belief, and confirmation. They love echo chambers and avoid any intellectual confronation. The only kind of confrontation they seem to enjoy is hostile, and occasionally tinged with overtones of violence.

4. Which is why right wing talk (hate) radio
....is so much more successful than lefty talk radio. The medium lends itself so much more to spewing small sound bites and short talking points than nuanced debate...

Well, that and the 20+ year investment by right wing authoritarians like Murdoch and Ailes...

5. Yes--belief vs. knowledge. It makes it hard b/c our side is split, while belief is absolute
It's why I think the political spectrum is being gamed by the powers that be, and it keeps drifting further to the right.

It's why the Palins and Bachmanns are still so strong in the face of so much evidence that contradicts the basic ideas behind their agendas. Faith is harder to move than reason, b/c it is closed to the outside by its nature.
