FB debate over Arizona immigration bill
I've been in a debate with some wingnuts on FB, and one of them gave the following replies:

The arguement about profiling is a red herring. The Irish, who were here as legal immigrants endured extreme discrimination during the late 1800s. They were profiled, refused employment and in the end did just fine. The legal mexican immigrants will be fine too. We all have to show proof of our status at some point. I have had to produce a birth certificate on various occasions and was not in the least insulted by that request. The people who are insulted are the people who are here illegally. And back to Neil's point, the argument of constitutionality does not apply to non-citizens. To argue that is does is intellectually dishonest.

I'm almost speechless. I am generating a reply, and any snappies would be appreciated.

1. Bull pucky, outside of having to show a BC for your first time drivers license
and to get your marriage license, Social Security card or benefits from Social Security, no one asks for your BC and very few people carry them around, most people keep their BS in a fire proof safe at home. So your dealing with a lying republicon butt kisser. Then theres the little matter of the 14th amendment, that birthers and tea baggers are so fond of, funny how they don't seem to mind ignoring that law an it applies to everyone in the United States not just citizens.

Here is the 14th amendment................................

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Section 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.

Section 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Section 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

6. the fact is that if this affected these people, being stopped and asked for proof of citizenship
every week they'd be pissed. But since they don't think it will affect them, they are fine with it. It's not about those here illegally. It's about legal citizens being harrassed and asked to produce proof of citizenship. It's so against everything we are as a nation!! Someone used buying alcohol and being asked for ID when you are clearly over the age of 21 as some sort of justification for this baloney. Imagine cops just pulling EVERYONE over regardless of what they look like just so they can't be sued for not doing enough... because when a store cards everyone, it's because they don't want to be accused of selling alcohol to minors. so ok... let's just pull everyone over. have checkpoints all over every day and have everyone have to show their id everytime. i can assure you the ones that think this is an awesome idea would get tired of it really fast. but officer.... i'm an american citizen. you can't keep doing this to me. see, it's ok if it's someone else. but if it's them, they would be pissed.

3. The fact is that they can ask you if they suspect you of being illegal
Meaning they can harass citizens in which case constitutionality absolutely does come into play. You can tell your friend that I am insulted and I am here legally as I am a natural born citizen.

Which brings us to the here say portion of the bill requiring citizens to turn in illegals, anyone can claim your not a citizen ( Obama can't be touched and doesn't have to show jack, its up to his accusers to provide proof he wasn't born in the US ) that is not enough for police to act on and if they do and you are a citizen, your 14th amendment rights are violated. You can then sue for false arrest.

5. Constitution is the Law of the Land and applies to everyone in the land.
Citizenship doesn't matter when dealing with equal protection under the law.

7. stretch constitution - unbelievable - they drop the values of this
country to torture and not give trials, and now this - the constitution is something this country should live by but hasn't for almost a decade
