7. Especially knowing the original and its context.

Knowing the original is why I dislike it. It's a terrible metaphor.

3. That saying is another one in the vein of 'playing a part'.
Edited on Sat May-15-10 09:02 PM by RandomThoughts
It is part of the concept that people play parts without free will.

It would be better to be said that it is possible that a persons choices put them in a place, where because of those choices his best service would be for that effect.

Although most that believe on that phrases' doctrine, use it to justify their position, even if it came from free will choices not what they think of as their place. It can be an effect of man's choices, not some pleasing place by destiny.

And what some think of as a bad place could be good and vice versa.

However in the context of BP, I agree the oil companies are a bit off on issues, not because it is their place to be, but by the free will choices of people that allowed it and did it, after being warned for decades if not centuries. Including voters, citizens, executives, politicians and many other people.

But things can always be made better, that is also part of free will choices.

4. Sadly, most poeple are lemmings..and will blindly follow someone who can
manipulate them..even if it means going over a cliff to their deaths.
