Duracell Batteries ..... ?
Here is my concept for the next in the series of ads for Duracell Batteries.

You know, the ones where they show the night flight from some trauma care medical ems crew

because it is absolutely critical that they have functioning batteries in their

night vision goggles .....

Scroll down for the ad:

When huge international energy mega-corporate giants like British Petroleum and TransOcean and Halliburton ...

... Head into the waters of the environmentally sensitive and ecologically and economically vital Gulf of Mexico ...

... to drill oil wells thousands of feet deeper than scientifically or technologically advisable ...

... Totally unforeseen catastrophic accidents occasionally happen ...

... Things like ....

''' Acts of God ...

..... AND .......

... Just plain criminal negligence and stupidy ...

... they don’t trust their state of the art acoustic blowout preventers to just any old battery....

... so they rely on...

... Because this ....

is a Big F****ng Deal

7. For those telling you this isn't protected speech.....

Judge rules in satirical Web site’s favor

AMITE, La. — A Web site that satirizes news can run a fictional story about a giraffe attack at Global Wildlife Center in Folsom, a state district judge ruled Monday.

After a two-hour hearing, state District Judge Beth Wolfe struck down a temporary restraining order signed March 2 that had called for the removal of the story from the site, Hammond Action News.

Wolfe also ordered Global Wildlife to pay Nicholas Brilleaux, the owner of Hammond Action News, $500 in attorney fees and court costs.

Noting that Global Wildlife has legitimate concerns that some readers may think the giraffe attack story is genuine news, Wolfe said in court that the story is satire and protected speech.

“I don’t think there is any malice of intent from either party,” Wolfe said in court. “I think the bottom line is: This is protected.”

Satire is a centuries-old type of literature that uses humor and imitation to attack and ridicule individuals’ moral and character flaws, such as vice, unfairness, stupidity or vanity.

The First Amendment protects satire and parody as a form of free speech and expression. Questions that have arisen in case law concerning libel, emotional distress and copyright infringement are discussed in the relevant cases below.

While in some countries, expressing your views through political satire can get you thrown in jail or even put to death, in the United States, it is considered free speech and protected under the First Amendment.

"In perhaps one of the strangest U.S. Supreme Court cases in history, the constitutional right to political satire was upheld in Flynt v. Falwell, 1988," Speel says. Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flynt had printed an ad parody in his magazine which televangelist Jerry Falwell considered libelous. Falwell sued Flynt and was awarded $150,000 by a jury for emotional distress, but the Supreme Court unanimously overturned the jury decision by invoking First Amendment protection for speech concerning public figures.

11. It wouldn't surprise me if Global Wildlife was treating their animals poorly
I know Folsom pretty well, as I used to camp there a lot when I was a kid. That town is full of bible-thumping inbred rednecks, and Global Wildlife is run by 'morans'.

Global Wildlife Foundation president Ken Matherne also threatened to file criminal charges, FCC charges, fraud charges, an IRS complaint, a governor’s office complaint, and a federal lawsuit against Nicholas Brilleaux.

9. Great job! Check your typo, though:
"Just plain criminal negligence and stupidy ...]

You might still have time to fix it. If not--oh, well. It doesn't make the ad less brilliant.

18. Actually, I noticed that earlier
or rather, it was rudely brought to my attention in an earlier post to which I replied. Mods deleted that whole sub thread as well they should have (Sorry about that Mods ~ he started it. LOL) So I decided to just leave it alone.

Thanks for your response. :hi:

26. Sometimes I post a thread or a reply and then go and do other things.
Later, when I go back to see what someone has replied to me, I realize that I have posted something with a typo, but the editing period already passed, so I can't fix it. DU is the only site I know of where you can't go back and fix a mistake unless you do it within a certainly limited window of time. Does anyone know why that is? It's embarrassing to me when I find I have posted a mistake but it's too late to fix it.
