So Rudy and Fred are lead balloons, and Mitt, well Mitt,
what can you say about Mitt? But, the Republics are now floating Bloomberg as a possible candidate? Can we say desparate?

1. Rudy and Fred are out?
I didn't know Fred was in, but I would think they would both be tough candidates. Rudy a bit more so.

Irony is not their strong suit.

3. Fred walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, so Fred's a duck.
Fred's got no fire in his belly and I don't think the general population will buy another actor now, especially one trying to channel St. Ronnie of Raygun. I've heard as much criticism about him as I've heard enthusiasm.

Rudy...might as well get Tony Soprano on the ticket...and don't mean that as a putdown of our Italian constituency. But, let's face it, Rudy is a very screwed up individual on many levels and he's not a good candidate for them. Plus he's condemned to forever act out "Weekend at Bernie's" with his good buddy Kerik.

They ain't got nobody. They ain't got no message. They ain't got no morals. They ain't got nothin'.

11. I hear that James Gandolfini is a good Democrat...
in the same vein as Springsteen & BonJovi. On the other hand, the guy who plays Paulie is a total rightwinger.

13. No newsmeat record found on Tony Sirico
the guy who plays Paulie. Got proof?

14. No proof...I just remember this being discussed here
around the time that BonJovi had publically come out in support of Kerry. I remember Gandolfini & Edie Falco being interviewed around that time and they were both supporters of Kerry. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have made that claim without some tangible proof to back it up. I just have my faulty memory to rely on.

16. Thanks mentalsolstice.....
I guess Google really is your friend. I had no idea where to even begin to look for proof, I just knew that I remembered it being discussed around here in '04, that Mr. Sirico was a rabid rightwinger.

4. Is Repub Candidate polling of Repubs as dismal as overall polling?
I read some results that tend to show unhappiness with the Repub lineup of candidates.

However, someone is bound to be doing indepth polling of Repubs and their opinions about each specific Repub Candidate. The negative poll numbers would probably be astounding. I doubt we will see any one of the present Repub candidates as the Repub Nominee. Someone on the sidelines is bound to jump in --and it is not going to be Fred Thompson(he sounds just like Bush as to his positions).

6. How stupid is it, that another potential candidate threatens
to enter the race (Thompson), and decides to take a MORE HAWKISH view than McCain? That will not fly with the general public. If the R's were smart, of course, they'd put up someone who at least LOOKS like he wants the war to end and wants to use diplomacy. Mitt actually sounded like the most "peaceable" of the pro-war set at the debate, but then he started foaming at the mouth about OBL and jihadists, etc.

10. I agree, looks, health, money, ONE pretty wife and a sunny personality will trump
the other old, sick-looking grumpy gusses.

12. I suspect the other Repub Candidates want Mitt to endorse them with all that money to spend...
so we are unlikely to see too many direct attacks on Romney from the other Repub candidates.
